I'm in the same boat. The more I think about it, the more it seems they aren’t actually planning or thinking anything through. The idea that there's some obscure but intellectually sound evil plan is oddly comforting, but to me, it just looks like pure chaos and incompetence (depressing as that is).
Execs and investors are simply reacting, trying to maintain their current revenue streams and chasing short-term incentives, semi-blindly. Unfortunately, we're living in a mix of Idiocracy and Don't Look Up. Like, hey, we're heading towards a totally avoidable apocalyptical outcome, but... you know... Brawndo has what plants crave! It's got electrolytes! (Proceeds to try and make a few more million and escape to space.)
