In mean girls, Rachel's hyper aggressive behavior was no longer a problem once the circumstances were changed and she was the one at the bottom of a pile of girls. So it was also circumstantial 🤔
You see patterns. Are they patterns you're already looking for? Or are you looking to see what patterns there are outside of our social conditioning? If I think I will see a red car, I am more likely to notice red cars throughout my day via confirmation bias.
Your example of a man within a relationship losing his friendships is very poignant, if for no other reason than I'm sure every woman knows another woman who did this as well. Our behaviors are less gender -siloed than you seem to be assuming.
