Learning two, even three languages is a normal part of childhood development.
What's messed up is that we often only teach many kids just one language when they are most receptive to learning.
My husband has studied Chinese for 12 years and in that time he's gained what a six-year-old might have by simple exposure and frankly I'm impressed with him for it.
