Another attempt at femicide was recently reported in the Federal District. The case occurred on the night of last Monday (26/05) in the Fercal region. The 33-year-old victim, a woman, was seriously injured after being stabbed by her 43-year-old ex-husband. The couple had been separated for about five months. On the night of the crime, the man was at home with their children when the woman arrived from work to pick them up. A disagreement ensued between the former couple, and the man inflicted three deep stab wounds on the victim, hitting her abdomen, chest, hand, and face. According to information from the Military Police of the Federal District (PMDF), the Fire Department of the Federal District (CBMDF) was called around 6:40 pm to provide assistance to the victim. The CBMDF transported the woman to the Brasília Base Hospital (HBB) in a delicate state of health. She underwent surgery but remains in a grave condition. After attacking his ex-wife, the man fled and hid under a truck. He was located and arrested by the GTOP 33 team. The knife used in the crime was not found. The ex-partner was taken to the 35th Police Station (Sobradinho II). According to the Federal District Civil Police (PCDF), the victim had a protective measure against her ex-partner requested in April, when a domestic violence incident was reported. According to the Federal District Public Security Secretariat (SSP-DF), from January to April of this year, the DF recorded 33 attempts at femicide, representing a 65% increase compared to the same period last year. In the first four months of 2024, 20 femicides were registered.
