I'm inventing a term for a phenomenon I observe almost daily : "fonipati"
It means the use of an accent to deceive manipulate an audience. Its based on Greek φωνήεν απάτες and simplified for simplicity's sake.
In America, its usually a British accent that's used to manipulate people. It gives things an aire of sophistication. Its much easier to slip in a lie or sell dogshit if you use a British accent.
Very annoying. So this new word is hopefully also annoying. Fonipati. That manipulative accent is just fonipati.
