We should worry about core merging commits that had greater amount of NACKs. Bitcoin is open source, yes – but it is not like any other open-source project, it is one of a kind. On top of that, it is a monetary protocol, which obviously makes it susceptible to more scrutiny than any other FOSS project. Core devs, among others, should be perfectly aware of this.
