One of the main benefits of running your own node is so you have Helipad. It lets you see every Boost that comes in and it's tied to a 3rd party service like Fountain, Alby, Satoshi.stream etc.
For us in the PC 2.0 and #V4V community thanking people is a huge part of it and Helipad on a node is second to none plus you learn a lot about Bitcoin by running one.
Everything coming straight to you is the only way to not miss anything but if you want to be like most podcasters and only thank the top Fountain Booster than go ahead.
For me it's about all the PC 2.0 apps and that's why I harp on this all so much.
