Libertarians will always lag behind in the power game because they’re addicted to self-neutering.
Checks and balances exist to leash the predators — not to tie your own hands. The end still doesn’t justify the means, but uncertainty sure as hell shouldn’t narrow your options.
Build resilient structures. Generate profit. Plug into every market you can reach. The more stable your profit engine, the more markets open up to you. And at no point should you be worrying whether you’ve weakened yourself enough to avoid the terrible fate of being too rich or too influential.
Monopolize the mask for yourself first. Only then offer it as a service to the child.

It's a game of cards, quite old. I grew up with a version of it where you win the game if you manage to be exactly on zero at the end. There are many rounds where you can win and lose points on each. It's quite complicated to win the game using this strategy.

I wasn't too familiar with David before Ahmed asked, but I knew him from the Talking Heads, so obviously I said yes. Then came the logistics of actually making it happen - scheduling everything around and figuring out if I could pull off the trip from South Carolina all the way up to Manhattan.
The Journey North:
The drive involved coordinating between Airbnbs and making strategic stops along the way. I stayed at my dad's house for a few days in Charlotte, which I tend to do whenever I travel north. It's always a good stop to see my dad since I don't get to see him very often. From there, I scheduled a couple Airbnbs in Jersey City, where I was able to see my friend Raf - always nice to catch up with him and drop off some rolls of film (watch our interview together here). The next day I got another Airbnb in a different city, then drove the following morning to a parking garage in Manhattan that was a block or two from Ahmed's studio.
Sunday Afternoon Studios:
The studio is called Sunday Afternoon Studios, and of course I was the first one there - I'm always early to things. I find it better to be early than late, and it's never a problem for me because I usually just end up walking around, taking pictures, and being able to relax without worrying about rushing to get somewhere.
When I told my dad about how this shoot was going to happen, he said, "Make sure to get a picture of him on his bike" - apparently David rides his bike around the city quite often. I kept that in mind, and when David came in, sure enough, he came up the elevator with his bike. I thought of my dad and took a quick picture and sent it to him. He appreciated that, so that was cool.

The Shoot:
The shoot took a few hours, starting at 10 AM and wrapping up around 4:30 PM with cleanup. It was a gread day - I had a lot of fun and was able to learn more on lighting methods and setting up things I'd never worked with before in a professional environment. But I was also doing some documentary work with my Leica M262, so that's what these photos were taken with.
David's outfit, by the way, was extremely heavy - must've been at least 50 pounds or something like that. When I had to put it back in the box to ship it back to wherever it came from, I really noticed how heavy this thing actually was. It was made out of plastic tubing and zip ties and bungee cords and stuff. Actually really cool design work.

that's been me for a long time but i'm planning to get my license and travel in a van with my cat to ... i never knew the name of it but ok, serbian carpathian mountains. i've been on the edges of parts of this area, it's distinctly named because the balkans range crosses over from a bit furhter south in serbia (near nis) across northern parts of bulgaria, Sofia is on that range.
anyway, random geography fact. i love scooters, they are my favourite generic type of transport, in fact if i could get a light enough one i'd get a mount for it so it can hang at the back of my van, and be my main way around while i am parked, in warm seasons. i've seen this brand "tomos" that do this underbone style, which is my favourite style of scooter, i used to own a bigger more bulky one called "Sachs Madass" which was pretty sweet but underpowered to cope with mountains. i'd probably get the lightest little 50cc i can find and then swap in a big bore cylinder and if it didn't already, put light spoked wheels on it and maybe maybe a turbo.

The confusion arises in the massive gap between
What American investors like
(flashy stuff, built for influencers, tiktokers, and advertisers, massive audience you can capture to mine their data for your AI)
and what PAYING users like
(elegant, efficient, reliable stuff, that does something useful and makes sense running in a LAN, and good customer support)
There is simply much more promise of fast 🤑, in the first one, but the second brings in steady income and is harder to dislodge with a competitor.

Best way to tax the wealthy is to keep taxes low. And yeah they could do all that if they could agree and it is the one way to make the government stop being as much of a piece of shit burden on everyone short of repudiating the debt entirely and saying fuck it, everyone just secede, it's fine, but they're not gonna do any of these options until it's too late and the theft has worn on a while longer.

in my experience, the functional model of "hooks" is the best for simplifying and modularising especially concurrent applications, while hiding all that scheduling away from the implementer.
go's http library has to be one of the easiest libraries i've ever used in my life. the complicated parts more lie in the more complicated parts of the HTTP spec, like query/path/body parameters and suchlike. for that, huma is the way to go. not only is it easy to build endpoints with it, it exposes the openapi 3.1 spec document and you can easily load in a custom docs UI as well, which you've seen.

indeed, that's why i'm going to go independent, build out the back end infrastructure and then save my funds to build out a decent proof of concept front end web app. or maybe i'll figure out a better strategy involving flutter.
this thing about not being able to make one UI codebase for mobile and desktop is bullshit in my opinion. i created a responsive layout for a PoW crypto web app that was acceptable and even not only between mobile dimensions (very small mobile like 800x480 display) it also scaled up to 4k. so idk what these people are talking about lol. lazy, is what i'd call it.
