CEO Aravind Srinivas positioned Perplexity as an alternative to Bloomberg Finance—but has eaten his words since.
Put simply, the core issue was the same one plaguing many AI platforms today: a lack of consistent accuracy.
CEO Aravind Srinivas has frequently described Perplexity as a “commoditised version of Bloomberg Terminal” and stated that he’s building a “Bloomberg Terminal for the masses”.
In response to the query on a dashboard that Perplexity built, CompoundingAI Founder, Niraj Rajai said, “Everything ‘looks’ beautiful but data accuracy is missing big time.”

Basically, a subscription scam. You excitedly click Access cashback. There's a form to sign up using your payment details and you are supposedly immediately credited the £20.50.
Then you forget about it.
Then they charge you £18 a month every month. To cancel you need to "contact them by phone".

Needless to say, this works on any Browser and any app that runs JavaScript and can display webviews inside of it, including some Nostr apps.
Issues like this are why Amethyst doesn't display Twitter preview cards and play YouTube videos: they all need JavaScript.
