Just to add on: it goes further than that. Cardinal Biago criticized Michelangelo for all the nudity. So Michelangelo obliged and drew him, as a demon, in the Sistine Chapel with his genitals covered. With some embellishments.

The best part is that "The story goes that Biago complained to the pope, who said something along the lines of "I"m sorry, but my jurisdiction does not extent to Hell."" 😂

Proof-of-stake centralization isn't just a theory - it already happened. In 2020, exchanges like Binance, Huobi, and Poloniex used customer funds to help Justin Sun take over the #Steem network.
Delegated stake = centralized power.
Solution? #Kaspa!

You pretty much nailed it. Thanks for sharing knowledge and looking after new users 🙂. One of my gazillion side quests is breaking down the docs a bit. While overindexing on documentation is a good thing, having everything in a single README can be a bit overwhelming.
Also, Haven is currently gaining a ton of undocumented secondary features (e.g. support for backups and Blossom on dozens of S3-compatible object storages). Mea culpa.
I'm a bit busy with some PGP-related side quests, but breaking down the docs and writing a Quick Start guide a la:
> “Download the latest binary here. Replace your npub here, your domain there, run `./haven` or `haven.exe` with `--import`, wait, restart, profit!”
is otherwise at the top of my priority list.

Have you tried to use multiple solutions on your lightning node instance? Like lightning terminal, rtl, lnbits, etc? Can they intefere?
Because e.g. lnbits allows you to set a subaccount for fees. But it does not seem to be active, while I am using rtl. So somehow they seem to override eachother?

Why I think it's lovely people on nostr say GM.
A little philosophy I've held for a long time (that has served me well) is that a happy life comes from exposing yourself to more little uplifts than downlifts.
Living in a rough area, have a job you hate, and being unhealthy relationships, life becomes full of small downlifts, and before you know it, you hit rock bottom and feel horrible. It can be everyday things, like neighbours shouting at each other or your boss treating you poorly. Not one thing is terrible, but together they make you burn out.
IF you tip the balance and expose yourself to more uplifts, like finding a safe place to live, building healthy relationships, or having a job you don't hate, then before you know it, you're on top of the world.
The beauty is that you can create uplifts for others through simple gestures, like saying GM, and in fact saying GM is a two way uplift.
I find traditional social media is full of downlifts, whereas Nostr is full of uplifts.

Happy to hear any suggestion to get around the simple fact that spam will always be rampant when new profiles can be spun up for free and messages can be saved to servers for free with the expectation they will be seen.
You either need to be purposeful about limiting who can put posts in front of your face or you will have spam. There's not really any way around that except to hand that responsibility to a central authority.

Wallets are an interesting subject on your node. In one sense, your entire outbound liquidity constitutes your wallet balance, and you can do transactions directly from this balance using Ride the Lightning under Lightning>Transactions. From the Payments tab in that interface you will have a "Send Payment" button at the top where you can paste in a lightning invoice. If you pop over to the Invoices tab, you can choose "Create Invoice" to receive sats to your lightning node.
You will see your "Local Capacity" at the top of the page here. That is effectively your "wallet balance" if you are using your entire node's outbound liquidity as your wallet. It's also where any routing fees you receive will "go." Routing fees are really just the difference between the amount of sats you receive and the amount you forward to the next hop in the route, so you won't see a transaction amount in your wallet for "10 sats - fee income." Instead, you will see it in the Reports section of Ride the Lightning.
Now, I would not recommend using your entire liquidity as your "wallet." One reason for this is, the balance will fluctuate. This is due to your node calculating how much it would cost to close the channel on-chain at the current fee rate. Instead, I would recommend using a sub-wallet with a balance that is a portion of the total outbound liquidity.
Use something like Alby Hub or LNBits to create this sub-wallet. Alby Hub is probably the most user-friendly, while LNBits is probably the most versatile. Then connect the sub-wallet to a wallet app like Alby Go or Zeus via Nostr Wallet Connect. The easiest way to have a lightning address connected to it is to connect the wallet to an Alby account via NWC.

Seems you are operating from a bit narrower definition of "finance" than necessary. It can be simply defined as the science or study of the management of funds, as found in Merriam-Webster, which is quite generic and certainly includes savings.
If you are going to narrow the focus to only those financial constructs that "extract value from the economy without real work," then that's fine, but I would make sure that whoever you converse with is aware you are using the term that way rather than the broader definition.

Alright... Here's what I changed:
OWNER_NPUB - This should obviously be changed to the npub you will be using Haven with.
RELAY_URL - This should be the domain where the relay will be accessible.
Leave the rest of the settings in this top section of the .env as they are unless you have a specific reason to change them and pop down to the Private Relay Settings.
PRIVATE_RELAY_NAME - You can name it whatever you like, but probably don't want to leave it as "utxo's private relay." Each of the other sections allow you to change their name, too.
PRIVATE_RELAY_NPUB - This should be the npub you plan to use the relay with. The private relay will only accept notes authored by that npub. Same applies for all the other sections below that allow you to set the relay npub.
PRIVATE_RELAY_DESCRIPTION - You can leave this as is or change it as you see fit. It just gives those who check the relay description document an idea of what the relay is for.
PRIVATE_RELAY_ICON - Slap in a URL for an icon for your relay. Think of it like your relay's profile picture. Keep it small. You can even have a separate icon for each of Haven's relays, if you want.
I haven't changed anything in the Private Relay Rate Limiters section.
Your "Chat" relay is used for receiving DMs. Apart from the fields similar to the Private relay setup, you may want to adjust the WoT depth, how often the WoT is refreshed, or the minimum number of followers. These settings dictate who can post messages to your DM inbox, so you don't get a bunch of spam DMs. But, if you want to see DMs from people outside of your WoT, you may want to make these less strict by reducing the CHAT_RELAY_MINIMUM_FOLLOWERS to 0, but know that you will start getting spam DMs, too.
Make similar updates as you did in the Private Relay section to the Outbox and Inbox sections, too.
Your Import Settings may also need to have the date updated, depending on when you joined Nostr. Haven will import your notes from other relays from that date to present, based on the relays you instruct it to pull from in the relays_import.json document.
Finally, you may need to add some values in the AWS Backup Settings, if you are having Haven backed up to AWS.
The next document you will want to make sure has all the relays listed that you want to pull from is the relays_import.json. Make sure it is pulling from any and all relays you can remember writing to in the past. It's already including relay.nostr.band, which is an aggregator, so it should be able to find most of your notes, regardless.
And to round it all out, you'll want to edit the relays_blastr.json to include any relays you want your public notes mirrored to. This will only be notes that you are writing to your Haven outbox relay. The default relays are pretty decent, but you may want to make some adjustments. Note, you should not choose any relays that require AUTH for write access, as Haven will be unable to sign their AUTH requests.
Maybe nostr:npub1utx00neqgqln72j22kej3ux7803c2k986henvvha4thuwfkper4s7r50e8 and/or nostr:npub1a6we08n7zsv2na689whc9hykpq4q6sj3kaauk9c2dm8vj0adlajq7w0tyc can review the above to ensure I haven't given any bad advice. 😂

Hmmm... I can't think of any single video or podcast off the top of my head. That said, here's what I think the basic outline should be:
1. The problem. Give examples of how our current monetary system is working against us via inflationary theft of our time and productivity, creating bad incentives for high-time-preference behavior.
2. The solution. Outline the characteristics of an ideal form of money. Don't mention Bitcoin yet. Just go over what ideal portability, divisibility, durability, verifiability, fungibility, and most importantly scarcity look like in a digital and global economy.
3. Bitcoin as ideal money. Now show how Bitcoin is the form of money that best matches these ideals, and why it is the only one, since other copycats cannot repeat the 0 to 1 innovation, and cannot provide the security and scarcity assurances Bitcoin has built up over time due to the distribution of tens of thousands of full nodes and hundreds of thousands of miners worldwide. That network effect simply can't be broken.
4. Objections. Deal with some of the most common objections, like "How can it be valuable if it's not physical?" and garbage like that.
5. Further education. Provide sources for those who watch the video to learn more about various aspects of Bitcoin, both technical and philosophical, as well as where they can go to get off zero.
Dang... I might just need to make this...

Hmmm. All said and done, it is more necessary to have a relay management/moderation tool than to be able to block particular relays at this time.

Here's my canned response about dealing with spam:
If you are seeing a lot of spam in your replies, it is because you are reading from relays that spammers can write to for free.
Spam will always be present on any social platform or protocol when the following statements are true: 1. It's free and easy to create new identities. 2. New identities can write messages they can expect others will see without a cost.
We're not able to, nor do we want to, make it difficult to create a new identity on Nostr, so reducing spam by making new users jump through hoops to create an "account" that can only be enforced by a centralized entity is not an option.
That means we need to prevent it via option 2, by restricting new identities from writing notes to relays without a cost. If you are reading from relays that don't impose some cost to write to them, either social, computational, or monetary, then you are bound to see spam on a regular basis.
Instead of reading from free and public relays, you should consider trading them out for the following types of relays:
- Web-of-Trust (WoT): This relay type imposes a social cost in order to write to it. Namely, you have to be followed by the relay owner or one of the npubs the relay owner follows before you can write notes to the relay. These types of relays may also automatically aggregate notes from those within the web-of-trust, even if they were written to other relays.
- Proof-of-Work (PoW): This relay type is less common, and it imposes a computational cost to write to it. Only those who have dedicated computational energy to generating the required PoW can write to the relay. This cost is trivial for the honest user, who only posts up to a couple times a minute, but imposes heavy costs on spammers, who are trying to post hundreds or thousands of times per minute. Unfortunately, most Nostr clients don't support adding PoW to notes, so most relays don't use it as a spam mitigation measure.
- Paid Relays: As the name implies, this relay type imposes a monetary cost to write to it. It may also impose a cost to read from it, but that is less common. Since this cost is per npub, and spammers don't ever use just one npub since that's too trivial to mute and move on, this makes paid relays affordable for honest users, but too expensive for spammers.
Since the only two relay types above that are currently in wide use are web-of-trust and paid relays, here are a few suggestions for each.
Web-of-Trust:
- wot.utxo.one
- nostrelites.org
- wot.nostr.net
Paid:
- nostr.wine
- nostr.land
- jellyfish.land

Not all clients support muting particular words, so the "just do this simple thing," isn't always an option.

I deleted the app a while ago since it also just kept not working, or connecting me to my npub and when I'd click on a link like the ones you'd provided it would automatically still go to a browser vs opening the app for me. I wonder if the service is just not compatible with grapheneos. I will redownload the app and see if there's any difference now. But I deleted it after months of frustration attempting to have it work ok. And back then others indicated they experienced issue but it might have been just graphene os users. What's your os? And I'm pretty sure my VPN is on.

There are known patterns to be followed: convention over configuration, making the simple easy and the complex possible, etc. It's not rocket science.
For most clients at least. Then there will be more extreme approaches like Primal (can't configure) and others that require you to input everything.
Amethyst relay config is too confusing as it is. We need to be able to pull these configs from somewhere (vendors, paid relays, help sites), whether that's a nostr event or not.

I take a mostly hands-off approach. But then, I am also not trying to be a routing node. I use my node for my own transactions.
That said, when you have unbalanced channels, it limits your options for which channels a transaction can route through. For instance, if I have a channel with you, and all of the liquidity is on my side of the channel, I can no longer receive any sats with your node as the last hop before reaching me. You may have otherwise been the best route, but because all the liquidity is on my side of the channel, I will need to receive via one of my other channels that may be less optimal and result in a higher fee for the sender.

CLN doesn't have NWC built into it, so you would need something that runs on top of it to provide the functionality.
As far as I know, right now Alby Hub only works with LND, but LNBits might give you this functionality with their NWC plugin. nostr:npub1c878wu04lfqcl5avfy3p5x83ndpvedaxv0dg7pxthakq3jqdyzcs2n8avm, can you confirm?

Looks like Pablo has actually been working on it as recently as May 25th, though.
