WHY CTV IS NOT A GOOD IDEA (YET?)
Definition. END-USER: INDIVIDUAL or INSTITUTION, using 3RD PARTY to store or transact.

1) There is ZERO* functional CTV benefit to END-USER from CTV. ALL the benefit concentrates within FEW INFRA COMPANIES.
2) End-User receives EXACTLY** same product, as what is available today. CTV STILL REQUIRES an OFF-CHAIN component (watchtowers, alerts).
3) End-User MAY receive cost benefit, due third party reduction in fees. The benefit will NOT be large for End-User, but maybe be significant for the few infra companies.
3) CTV does NOT*** increase institutional adoption as it only benefits few infra companies. Again, end-user receives the same product, as today.
4) There are new problems introduced by CTV to END-USER due to potential of new fraud and confiscation (easier, not necessarily new). This is a topic large enough to deserve its own thread.
5) I hope ARK will be an improvement on Lightning. ARK could benefit. However, today overwhelming majority of Lightning traffic is by a few large infra companies/CEXs. Separate topic: there is evidence on-chain.
6) There are more important things to work on.
7) ROR is net negative TODAY. In the future, CTV may be a good thing to have, MAYBE.
DISCLAIMERS:
* There is marginal benefit to advanced self-custody users who want to automate vault logic more safely without pre-signed tx trees. These users are niche, but not zero.
** The end-user experience could marginally improve for advanced vault users IF someone builds a better wallet UX. Core operational burden remains. Note nobody bothered to build such a wallet today due to lack of demand from individuals.
*** Regulated custodians may like CTV for policy enforcement, but it's not a driver for broader adoption itself. My core point stands but nuance exists.
