Blackbox testers could also, theoretically, look at the codebase, but we purposefully do not, to remain unbiased. That only makes sense, because the developers look at the codebase.
But if they _also_ do not look at it, then they are _also_ interacting with a black box, and no human is interacting with a white box.

We'll end up managing more and more code, and having the AI write most of it, and then we have to create tools and systems to evaluate what it wrote and do random sampling to detect smells.
AI means more code. Much more code. Exponential growth in code. And some of that code will be wicked and we have to find that needle in the hastack. And we have to find it in our own code, and in the code of all dependencies.

"Vibe-coding" is a misnomer meant to disguise the fact that you are publishing something, despite not actually knowing what it does. It reeks of "Big Beautiful Bill" or "Better Kindergardens Law": the spin is right in the name.
Nobody cares about how much you were headbanging to Nirvana or chilling to jazz, while the computer built the app. They want to know why you are putting your good name on something you yourself don't understand and consider a mystery.

We'll have to review efficiently, according to project priorities, criticality, and severity.
We already do this, to some extent. That's why everyone quickly implements event viewers, but drags their feet on event publishers.

I hate when people say Bitcoiners are “lucky”.

…because survival demanded it.
This isn’t luck.
This is the statistical residue of conscious dissent.

Of course, but you don't know if the AI will adhere to the standards.
AI is not an algorithm that you can program absolutely, by writing clear instructions. The instructions are merely a list of your preferences and it then takes them into account, more or less, when making its own decisions. Prompts are not programming, they're nudging.
Also, there are major ethical considerations to software design. That is where virtue matters most.

Ever tried migrating one? They're often absolutely gigantic, full of procedures and complex views and classes (tables), and function as de facto interfaces for myriad other applications.
And you usually have to migrate in production, or run it in parallel with the new one, for months.
And for little gain, other than decreasing your maintenance work by increasing the chances of joining the AWS 7-hour outage.
