Normies don't need an OUTBOX at all.
For onboarding to the public side of Nostr they need:
:pointright: Communities they can publish in.
For onboarding to the private side of Nostr they need:
:pointright: Private group invite links
In both cases it's not them selecting / running / paying the relays, blossoms, mints.... but the owners of the group or community.
Normies would need an INBOX (although that's not even a requirement for the two use cases above). Just like they also would need a personal relay (and blossom) where they can store, backup and share their Nostr stuff privately.
This is where we need to offer all-in-one solutions that provide those things.
With spam prevention on that inbox (or ability to set a fee for publishing there, etc...).

Ok - glad we are making some progress. And it is true I don’t have inbox relays configured because I still use primarily Damus and prefer to keep receiving NIP-04 DMs 😂
We will try to put together some setup guides for clients. There is a lot we can do to simplify things but it still won’t work perfectly on every client. Some clients still don’t implement AUTH correctly, others do not honor your relay choices, others don’t publish notes to the right relays, etc etc.
I’ll investigate some clients and see if I can come up with something easier.
