Uma das freiras que sofreu um acidente na GO-237 em Uruaçu, Região Norte de Goiás, é natural dos dos Estados Unidos e ficou tetraplégica imediatamente após o acidente, segundo o médico Thiago Dantas. O neurocirurgião acompanha a paciente desde a primeira cirurgia feita no Hospital Estadual Centro Norte Goiano (HCN). O motorista que bateu no carro fugiu do local, mas já se apresentou à polícia.
Ao g1, a defesa do suspeito disse que ele está à disposição das autoridades, e que o motorista está "extremamente abalado" com o ocorrido.

O acidente aconteceu em 30 de maio, na GO-237, por volta das 3h. O carro tinha cinco ocupantes, sendo quatro freiras e uma comerciante, de acordo com Sandro Leal Costa, delegado responsável pelo caso. Os nomes das freiras e do suspeito não foram divulgados.
O g1 não conseguiu localizar familiares da freira até a última atualização desta reportagem.
Na ocasião, duas das freiras foram encaminhadas para o HCN. Uma delas aguardava cirurgia na clavícula, já teve alta e foi ouvida pela polícia, segundo o delegado. Já a outra, passou por uma cirurgia de contenção de danos ainda em Uruaçu. Segundo Thiago Dantas, o procedimento foi feito em caráter de emergência.
“A mais grave de todas é ela [a freira estadunidense]. Nós fizemos uma cirurgia em caráter de emergência no HCN Uruaçu, uma descompressão do pescoço, porque ela teve um traumatismo grave na medula espinhal e ficou imediatamente tetraplégica após o acidente”, disse o médico em entrevista à TV Anhanguera.
Depois disso, a freira norte-americana foi transferida para Goiânia a fim de realizar uma segunda cirurgia, pois de acordo com o médico “o HCN não é hierarquizado na rede estadual para fazer cirurgias complexas na coluna”.
A mãe da freira veio de Miami, dos Estados Unidos, para acompanhar o estado da filha, segundo o médico. Thiago disse ainda que a equipe está em contato com a Universidade de Miami para transferi-la para um centro de referência em recuperação de traumatismos raquimedulares, ou seja, lesões traumáticas que afetam a medula espinhal.

O acidente
De acordo com o Polícia Civil, o carro em que as freiras estavam, um Fiat Mobi branco, foi atingido na traseira por um Hyundai Elantra naquela madrugada, quando diminuiu a velocidade para acessar uma via lateral nas proximidades da Vila Sol Vermelho.
O homem de 25 anos que dirigia o outro carro fugiu do local, mas se apresentou à polícia acompanhado de advogado na manhã de terça-feira (3). Para os agentes, ele negou ter ingerido álcool, mas admitiu a possibilidade de ter cochilado na direção.
"Ele disse que não sabe o que aconteceu, que estava voltando da casa da namorada e que não tinha bebido. Falou que fugiu do local por medo e que pediu para um amigo ir até lá para chamar o socorro", relatou o delegado Sandro Leal Costa.
Polícia investiga acidente de trânsito que deixou quatro freiras machucadas
Imagens de câmeras de segurança registraram o momento em que os carros se aproximam antes da batida (veja o vídeo acima). Com o impacto, o Fiat bateu no portão de uma cerâmica localizada na região.
O Corpo de Bombeiros realizou o atendimento da passageira dianteira e de uma das passageiras que estavam na raseira do carro, enquanto o Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (Samu) atendeu as outras três ocupantes. No relato dos militares, consta que uma das passageiras não apresentava lesões e a outra reclamava de fortes dores na cervical.
“Nossa equipe realizou o atendimento de duas vítimas, sendo uma passageira dianteira, aparentemente sem lesões, e a outra passageira traseira esquerda que relatou não conseguir movimentar os membros superiores e inferiores, queixando-se de dor na cervical”, disse o texto dos bombeiros.

Investigação
De acordo com o delegado Sandro Leal, a perícia dos dois veículos já foi solicitada para que mais detalhes do acidente seja esclarecido. Uma das questões é descobrir a que velocidade o carro que bateu na traseira estava.
“Nós aguardamos o resultado das perícias dos dois veículos envolvidos para estabelecer a velocidade com que o veículo trafegava, ou seja, se superava o limite da via em 50%”, disse o delegado.
Segundo ele, isso é importante porque neste caso o crime de lesão corporal culposa dispensaria representação, que é quando a vítima ou seu advogado manifesta o desejo de que o Ministério Público exerça a ação penal contra um determinado crime.

Além da perícia, a reprodução simulada já foi solicitada para saber se houve culpa do condutor ou dos condutores e assim aferir a responsabilidade. Segundo o delegado, outras duas freiras e a comerciante que tiveram lesões leves não quiseram representar criminalmente.
As únicas que ainda precisam ser ouvidas é a freira americana, que está internada e aguarda transferência para os Estados Unidos, e uma outra freira que está como acompanhante dela no hospital. “Por estar inconsciente, ela ainda não tem condições de prestar suas declarações, inclusive para saber se ela quer ou não representar”, disse ele.
