One of my favorite and, in my opinion, the best Thai series on Netflix this year so far.
‘Mad Unicorn’ gives me the GRIT spirit—perseverance, hustle, and ambition. It’s packed with business lessons: never give up, but also know when to listen to your team. Based on the true story of Flash Express, Thailand’s first unicorn in the logistics industry, the series is both inspiring and intense.
Most of the dialogue is in Chinese, reflecting the real-life background of the founder, which adds authenticity and depth to the story.
Highly recommended if you enjoy stories about startups, leadership, and overcoming the odds.

That's a lot. Congrats :). I have no idea how many notes I wrote. Primal says 543. My home relay uses HyperLogLog for counting so not necessarily 100% accurate, plus I'm not sure if it really has imported all of my notes. So, lets say that is over 500 and way less than you :).

I wouldn’t fully trust my take here, due to “If AI can really replace folks, I’m not getting paid” bias and all. But IMO, outsourcing vs in-housing is a bit like building vs buying, tendencies always swings too far in one direction and are followed by a correction.
However... IMO, even though AI hype is... well... Hype. It does change things a bit (e.g. it makes it easier to tap into even cheaper Asian and South American labour, as AI handles translation quite well). Plus the geopolitical scenario is changing fast as well.
The good news is... As someone working on the platform side of things, I’m seeing managers absolutely desperate to hire, begging for budget while everything is on fire. So, if we use Platform teams as a kind of thermometer for tech in general, I’d say that some of the low cost-of-living / outsourced / contractor teams will face trouble soon, and companies will be forced to rehire locally as part of the usual pendulum swing between outsourcing and in-housing.
That said, we’ve got used to seeing the same five or six companies dominate over the past two or three decades. Some of these giants will fall. And I honestly think a lot of the next “FAANG” will likely be Chinese, Indian, etc. So my honest take is: I really don’t know what will happen to the job market in the developed West for a while.
I’m “lucky” enough to have access to both developed and developing world jib markets. Things in the UK are almost as shaky as they are in the US. Meanwhile, some of my former colleagues in Brazil are living the dream. $100k USD year in Brazil get you the equivalent of $300k in a low cost of living area in the US. A lot if folks are struggling even in the current "favourable" developing wotld market though. So it's hard to tell what's really happening.
If you ask me, I’m personally not moving back to Brazil for now. I still have a bit of hope that parts of the industry (not just Big Tech, but also telco, finance, etc, will adapt and bounce back). I won’t lie though: I’ve turned down a few opportunities in Asia and the Middle East in the past. I’m not so sure I’d reject a compelling offer nowadays.

这一现象也得到了数据的支持。据北京开卷对2024年少儿图书零售市场的调查显示，少儿科普百科占比超27%，是近三年占比最大的类别，青少年心理自助、少儿国学经典、少儿科普百科、少儿英语、少儿绘本、低幼启蒙类的品种效率近两年一直高于整体市场水平。总体上看，选题的变化是倾向于更具有实用价值的科普类、大语文教育类，以及心理类选题。市场在向更刚需的产品倾斜，教育理念似乎更为短视和功利。
“过去的童书多以讲述童话和文学性故事为主，可能只是讲一个森林中小兔子的冒险这样美好的故事。而如今，实用类童书占据了主导地位。这些书籍教授孩子生活技能、科普知识，甚至提前进行学科素养的启蒙教育，深受家长青睐。选择童书时，家长们更倾向于那些能够传授知识、帮助孩子改正不良习惯的实用类书籍。”阅读推广人麦小麦也表达了类似感受。
功能性阅读的火热之外，同样值得关注的是儿童文学市场的下滑。根据《出版人》杂志的报道，2017年，少儿文学市场遭遇了负增长，其销售额占比持续下降。自2021年起，少儿科普百科类图书的销售额更是实现了对儿童文学类的强势超越。曾经在童书市场占据主导地位的文学类书籍，似乎已不再拥有往日辉煌。
