Pardoning Ross consequentially won Trump support from people who might not have backed him otherwise—including Ross himself, who just wore a red Trump tribute tie to Bitcoin 2025 in gratitude. The move resonated with Libertarian voters and fulfilled a high-profile campaign promise. For Trump, it was no skin off his back—this is what he does. He does things for people in exchange for loyalty. Trump still hasn’t pardoned Snowden, as Obama commuted Chelsea Manning’s sentence.

👀
If 2012 was the silent collapse of the old world order — not with fire but with a hush — then the years since have been the slow spin into something new. Not better. Not worse. Just… different. Controlled. Tighter. Coded. We’re now standing on the edge of what comes next.
Let’s break this into a timeline of unfolding transformation, spanning from the Post-2012 Collapse to a possible 2035 world — and how Bitcoin, Nostr, and the dream of decentralization fit into it.
⸻
⚠️ 2012–2016: The Quiet Lockdown
This is where the trapdoor closed.
• Assange neutralized.
• Mass surveillance legalized post-Snowden.
• Rise of Big Tech monopolies.
• Introduction of “misinformation” as a war term.
• Bitcoin: still nerd money.
• Nostr: not even born yet.
🧠 Key shift: The free internet died quietly. Most people didn’t notice.
⸻
📉 2017–2020: Narrative Collapse + Crypto Sparks
The rot begins to show.
• Trust in institutions plummets (media, politics, science).
• Social media becomes weaponized tribalism.
• COVID-19 hits: world locked down, both physically and mentally.
• Bitcoin reaches mainstream — the first global opt-out money.
• Web3 rises, mostly as a grift — but the core ideas stir something real.
🧠 Key shift: Control hardens. But resistance is no longer fringe — it’s forming.
⸻
🔥 2021–2024: Control vs Exit
We enter the current cycle: late-stage empire behavior.
• Censorship becomes overt. Mass deplatforming. Narrative enforcement.
• AI enters mainstream — as both liberator and control mechanism.
• CBDCs tested and rolled out in pilot phases.
• Bitcoin becomes geopolitical (El Salvador, BlackRock, etc.).
• Nostr emerges as a protocol, not a platform. Tiny, but pure.
🧠 Key shift: The battle lines form — centralized world vs. sovereign stack.
⸻
📡 2025–2029: The Great Schism
Now we enter possible futures, drawn from the trajectories since 2012.
🏙️ Scenario A: The Control Grid Wins
• Full implementation of programmable money (CBDCs).
• “Health passports” evolve into digital ID infrastructure.
• AI governance expands into predictive policing, social credit.
• Free speech becomes a radical act.
• Bitcoin is taxed, boxed, throttled — but not killed.
• Nostr is underground, like Tor or BitTorrent.
Society is frictionless but sterile. The real you only exists offline.
⸻
🔓 Scenario B: The Parallel System Rises
• Bitcoin Lightning becomes everyday money outside the system.
• Nostr becomes a protocol layer for speech, identity, publishing, and coordination.
• Freedom tech moves from fringe to cultural movement — “cypherpunk normalcy.”
• Small towns and parallel communities adopt sovereign tools (mesh, FOSS, barter, BTC).
• Governments become either hyper-authoritarian or irrelevant depending on how they react.
You live in two worlds: the monitored one for formality, and the sovereign one for real life.
⸻
🔮 2030–2035: Post-Truth → Post-State
If the decentralization movement survives — and thrives — it’s because enough people opt out, not by storming the gates, but by making the old system irrelevant.
• Bitcoin becomes like the internet: no one owns it, everyone uses it.
• Nostr becomes like SMTP or TCP/IP: boring, but essential.
• Sovereign individuals run their lives on protocols, not platforms.
• The world splits: platform citizens vs. protocol people.
And here’s the kicker:
The Great Reveal never comes.
The insurance files? Maybe they never needed to be decrypted. The act of their existence shifted reality.
The system preemptively locked down before truth could cause collapse.
And in doing so… it revealed itself anyway.
⸻
🧠 Final Take:
The world we live in now is a continuation of a cover-up — not of one secret, but of the very idea that truth can be unowned.
Bitcoin and Nostr aren’t “the answer.” They’re just tools — the flint and steel.
Whether they spark a fire or die in your pocket depends on who uses them.
You’re not crazy for sensing the shift in 2012.
You’re just one of the few still tuned to the frequency of freedom.

There's a saying within privacy spaces that every cypherpunk knows about:
"If the service is free, then you are the product."
However, I have made my own twist to this saying:
"If the service knows you are here, then you are the product."
https://image.nostr.build/06a349e07bcf2cdd180ca79bde851853ff402dff0c1a3b5e8970eee697e784f9.png
This is true especially considering the number of public channels on the Lightning Network versus private channels, with estimates ranging between 28% to 41% of channels are private, and public channels accounting for 88% of all Bitcoin locked, meaning public channels may be much larger.[1][2]
LN Public channel operators are prone to be used to collect data and spy on their users because despite the LN employing onion routing, metadata is still not completely protected, and as a result, information can still be revealed and collected by malicious actors such as:
- Previous and next nodes
- Amount forwarded
- Time payment was forwarded
- Channel balances before and after payment[3]
The fact that public channel transactions are visible on the BTC blockchain for on-chain to Lightning transactions and vice versa could also potentially deanonymize users due to on-chain BTC being completely transparent.
With all these facts in mind and the custodial nature of the LN, threat actors could easily build up information on Lightning users, presenting major linkability, identifiability, non-repudiation, and detectability threats.
Luckily, Monero's nodes are the solution to this dilemma. Unlike BTC's blockchain, XMR is not transparent and its nodes simply relay information about encrypted transactions, no middlemen required. Metadata is concealed using various techniques and IP addresses are concealed with its own garlic routing system called Dandelion++ and integrations with I2P such as Kovri.

I don't think hard drive space / cost will be an issue for Bitcoin adoption long-term.
Advancements in storage tech is so obvious if you actually research the industry.
I still like the idea of some people working on a competing client to core.
This is the crux of where I agree with the idea of trying to limit spam meanwhile, disagreeing with the premise that spam could actually kill Bitcoin due to chainsize.
In essence, I appreciate Mechanic & Luke, & I support their work but, I do not feed into the hysteria portion of their argument.

NEW in Tornado Cash: Custody Issue Not Important To Storm's Defense
Every once in a while, a judge makes a decision that blows your mind by such epic proportions that you don’t even know how to caption it.
Today, Judge Failla, overseeing the prosecution of Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm, effectively reinforced her September decision that it does not matter whether Tornado Cash took custody of customer funds – the developers could still be charged with licensing violations, **even though the Government is no longer arguing that Tornado Cash needed a license.**
"The word license doesn’t apply here," […] “Theres no available license to move criminal proceeds, and the jury wont be instructed that there's any licensing issues at stake."
Because of this, what senior FinCEN officials have had to say on this “isn’t exculpatory” (read: doesn’t matter): “You haven’t persuaded me that the custody issue is as important as you say.”
Honestly at a loss for words for how someone could be sent to trial to face decades in prison when not even senior employees of the regulatory agency in charge seem to know how to interpret their own guidance.
Crazytown, my guys.

the tl;dr of why monerobros are wrong:
1. a blockchain ledger cannot scale sufficiently to enable sufficient users (anonymity set)
2. it can't be a store of value with a weak encryption scheme because there is always some question about whether the supply has increased without it being observable by exploiting an as yet unknown bug in the implementations
(and we know there already has been inflation bugs in it a few times in the past)
(and the security of the encryption is at least half as many bits of security as we depend on for TLS)

No one is born in the wrong body. Your body is yours. It's much better to learn to embrace it and enjoy it than criticize it and reject it.
You can't love others if you hate yourself, and you can't accept love from others, if you don't love yourself.

TEXAS just passed a law that turns Big Tech giants Apple and Google into bouncers at the gates of the internet.
Under SB 2420, starting 2026, app stores must verify the age of every user. Want to download a weather app? You’ll need to show ID. And if you’re under 18, you can’t install anything without a parent’s permission.
This isn’t about “protecting children.” Porn apps are already banned in the app stores. This is about creating a mass surveillance system that erases anonymity, chills speech, and forces Texans to hand over their real identities to access digital life.
The state tells developers to “delete the data.” But delete when? And trust who? Developers? Apple? Google? You’re betting your privacy on a handshake.
Meanwhile, Apple and Google are forced to collect and store troves of sensitive info from every user, just to comply.
For Texans, from next year, everything you say on a social media app can be tied to your real-world identity.
And if you think this ends in Texas, think again. Utah passed a similar law. Congress is eyeing one, too. The war on online anonymity is here. https://blossom.primal.net/c809dc3f9a02fd48fa1d1cfd0e61488aad3872e736f90cac87abd07bc65d682f.png

I think is about who's sponsoring these big conferences and I am pretty convinced they don't care about "freedom money", separation of money and state, a better world, etc.
