Peruaanse boer verliest grote klimaatzaak tegen RWE in Duitsland
Een veelbesproken klimaatzaak is uitgelopen op een domper voor de Peruaanse boer die het proces begon. De boer had de Duitse energiereus RWE aangeklaagd om gecompenseerd te worden voor klimaatmaatregelen die hij en zijn dorp in de Andes moeten treffen om overstromingsrisico's door een smeltende gletsjer het hoofd te bieden.
Boer Saul Luciano Lliuya stelde dat RWE moet opdraaien voor een deel van de 3,5 miljoen dollar die hij nodig zegt te hebben. Hij redeneerde als volgt: wetenschappelijk is vastgesteld dat RWE goed is voor 0,5 procent van de wereldwijde uitstoot van broeikasgassen sinds de industriële revolutie. Die uitstoot leidt tot klimaatverandering en daarom zou het bedrijf 0,5 procent van de kosten moeten betalen. Dat is zo'n 17.500 euro.
Een lagere rechter verklaarde zich eerder niet ontvankelijk, maar in 2017 werd het hoger beroep toch doorgezet. Het advocatenteam van de boer hoopte dat het hof hem op zijn minst deels in het gelijk zou stellen, maar het hof in de Duitse plaats Hamm heeft zijn claim afgewezen en zet nu een streep door de zaak. Hoger beroep is niet mogelijk.
David tegen Goliat
Voor het hoger beroep tegen het grote energiebedrijf was de afgelopen jaren ook veel media-aandacht. Het was een verhaal over een Peruaanse David tegen de Duitse Goliat.
Onder klimaatjuristen was de hoop dat de Peruaan een juridische aardverschuiving zou veroorzaken. Als een westerse grote uitstoter als RWE op deze manier verantwoordelijk zou worden gesteld voor klimaatschade, zou dat de deur openzetten voor tal van rechtszaken tegen vergelijkbare bedrijven.
Het proces werd daarom wereldwijd met grote interesse gevolgd door de industrie en klimaatjuristen.
RWE hekelde de zaak van de boer en organisatie Germanwatch, die hem financieel en juridisch ondersteunt. Het energiebedrijf uit Essen waarschuwde dat de zaak kon leiden tot een situatie waarin iedere uitstoter van broeikasgassen verantwoordelijk kan worden gehouden voor klimaatschade, tot aan individuele autogebruikers aan toe.
Toch een overwinning
Hoewel de claim van de Peruaanse boer nu dus is afgewezen, zien hij en Germanwatch ook een overwinning in het oordeel. "Het oordeel van het hof, dat op het eerste gezicht een verlies lijkt, is eigenlijk een historisch oordeel dat gebruikt kan worden door mensen die hier wereldwijd door worden getroffen", reageert de ngo.
Advocaat Verheyen, die Lliuya bijstond, vliegt het verlies van haar cliënt nog optimistischer aan. "Voor het eerst in de geschiedenis heeft een Europees hof geoordeeld dat grote uitstoters verantwoordelijk gehouden kunnen worden voor hun broeikasgassenuitstoot. Duits civiel recht is dus van toepassing op de klimaatcrisis." Ze zegt dankbaar te zijn voor de ernst waarmee het hof de zaak heeft behandeld.
De boer zelf, die de behandeling thuis in Huaraz volgde, ziet dat ook zo. "Vandaag hebben de bergen gewonnen. Mijn zaak heeft het wereldwijde gesprek over rechtvaardigheid in het tijdperk van de klimaatcrisis verlegd", zegt Lliuya. "De zaak ging nooit over mij, maar over de mensen die, net als wij in Huaraz, al leven met de gevolgen van een crisis die wij niet hebben veroorzaakt. Dit oordeel opent de deur voor anderen om hun gram te halen."

I think it is a neat idea. I especially like the screws in holes idea but I suppose it isn't as resistant to heat or other types of damage as indents in steel.
I like that it is just binary so it can be read without electronics.
I think a locking nut or security screw could be a nice addition as well as a tamper resistant sticker.

é melhor vc tirar apenas a nota necessária na faculdade, não se mate de estudar por nota.
Foque em aprender oq o mercado precisa, estude por conta propria, e quando digo isso, me refiro a criar projetos que irão resolver problemas reais.
99% das faculdades estão defasadas, inclusive os professores que em maioria são funcionarios publicos e/ou programadores medianos.

Spending time in nature prepares you to be more self-reliant and responsible in other areas of life.
If you spend enough time in the mountains, the ocean or on rivers you know that nature is both beautiful and dangerous at the same time. You cannot have one without the other. One false step or moment of poor judgment could lead to a serious injury or worse.
The same goes taking self custody of your bitcoin. If you want to harness bitcoin’s beauty (and functionality) you must take responsibility. There is no way out and the consequences of making just 1 mistake are grave. Even if you survive losing your bitcoin, you still lose all the time and energy you can’t get back.
