Robert F. Kennedy Jr. doesn’t want government scientists to publish their work in the world’s leading medical journals. In the Ultimate Human podcast on Tuesday, the secretary of health and human services accused the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, and The Lancet of being “corrupt” and in the pocket of major pharmaceutical companies. “Unless those journals change dramatically, we are going to stop [National Institutes of Health] scientists from publishing in them and we’re going to create our own journals in-house,” Kennedy said. The NIH is the world’s largest funder of health research. Last week, the HHS released a report saying that overprescribed medications were the source of increased chronic diseases in children, blaming the pharmaceutical industry and a culture of fear preventing doctors and scientists from studying these diseases’ root causes. And earlier this month, the Justice Department sent threatening letters to medical journals around the country, accusing them of partisanship. “It has been brought to my attention that more and more journals and publications … are conceding that they are partisans in various scientific debates,” wrote Ed Martin, the interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia at the time, in a letter to the medical journal CHEST. According to NPR, the letters did not cite any evidence to back up Martin’s claims. The head of the NIH, Jay Bhattacharya, said in an interview earlier this month that he supports academic freedom, meaning that “I can send my paper out even if my bosses disagree with me.”On the surface, that would seem to run counter to Kennedy’s proposed ban, but Bhattacharya and Food and Drug Administration chief Marty Makary, who are both also vaccine skeptics, just so happen to have launched their own medical journal, Journal of the Academy of Public Health. The two are listed as “on leave” from the journal, which has raised concerns about promoting misinformation. “It looks like a well-put-together journal, it’s been nicely designed and so forth,” Carl Bergstrom, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Washington, told the journal Science. “But when you look at the papers that have been published and at the editorial board, you see that it’s really dominated [by] a small clique of contrarians around the COVID pandemic. There is certainly nothing like even representation of consensus viewpoints within infectious disease epidemiology.”For all of their talk about academic freedom and corruption, Kennedy, Bhattcharya, and Makary seem to be pushing their own views and stifling others. Their appointments also coincide with mass layoffs and staff purges at their respective agencies, leaving behind smaller staffs less likely to raise objections out of fear of losing their jobs.

To progress effectively, you need to understand how biology works.
When the body encounters resistance, it feels discomfort and pain. It has two ways to deal with it:
1. If it’s unnecessary and can be avoided, the body avoids it.
2. If it’s important and affects future survival, the body starts changing to become more effective and avoid that pain in the future.
This is how you can use this understanding to grow:
You go to the gym with full conviction that it matters and you want it. You start lifting weights you can’t lift. It brings discomfort — that’s the point. The more discomfort, the stronger the survival signal, and the faster the body responds.
You visualize it: “I absolutely want to push this weight. I need this strength to dominate and conquer my world!” You put in your full effort, but it’s hard — very hard — so you feel intense discomfort or even some pain. Then you rest. You try again. After the session, you go home, eat, and recover.
Now the body calculates: How important was this? How intense was the discomfort? Can it be avoided? If your conviction is strong enough — if you go again in a few days — avoidance becomes impossible. The body must upgrade. And it will — at the speed and intensity the pain demanded.
Always remember: it needs to feel important for your future survival.
Do this for several months and you become a beast.

Well, just did a quick bit of research, approximately 5 million yanks visit the UK in a year. Approximately 22% of adult Americans own btc. Summising that the visiting Americans are roughly 50% adult and roughly a fifth own Bitcoin, that would be 500k btc visitors. Hopefully they are all spenders and not Saylorites! Apparently the retarded transactions with JPEGS increase the size of a transaction which makes a transactions more expensive.
So even if we remove the OP Return filter, the bigger the files in UXTO, the bigger the cost. We always have the 4mb limit so that's the max anyways per block.
So it's not as dramatic as I though.

Okay I had an idea today. I've got some lightning channels with way too much inbound liquidity and figured the best way to handle that is... get some payments coming in!
I used to do a lot of pen and ink illustration - mostly "1960s comix"-inspired stuff, lots of cross-hatching, brushed ink and outlandishness. I thought the next best thing I could offer up to nostr customers after software development work is one-of-a-kind, original ink drawings. Probably small-ish stuff, simply framed. But always originals, never prints or digital files.
**Below is a random collection of a few doodles I found lying around the old hard drive to give a sense of my line style.**
I bought https://lightn.ink (Lightnink - Lightning for Ink, get it?!) on a whim with the intention of setting up a simple storefront for lightning payments. I'd also do nostr marketplace.
So the #askNostr part of the post: Would you trade sats for drawings? I figure this crowd would be into roughly Bitcoin-themed stuff. I'd very happily take direct requests ("Draw my avatar struggling out of a bakery with armfuls of bagels!" wtf, I dunno - you come up with the ideas. I'm not good at that part) like some kind of very slow, very human, image-generation LLM Proof of Work machine.
Or maybe you suggest ideas for series you'd actually want - like a limited edition of 10 different portraits of Fed chairmen with an erection at the helm of a money printer or something.
I want to join the nostr Lightning economy with some products of my own. Whattdya want?! I'll do it.
