Quase um ano depois de um pleito até hoje sem resolução, os venezuelanos voltarão às urnas neste domingo (25) em eleições regionais e para renovar Parlamentos locais.
A disputa também voltou a colocar frente a frente o governo de Nicolás Maduro e a oposição, liderada por María Corina Machado. Desta vez, no entanto, os oposicionistas tentarão jogar com outra carta: a abstenção.
Machado e seus apoiadores vêm pedindo para que a população boicote o pleito (leia mais abaixo). Já Maduro, na tática oposta, fez diversos comícios e campanha em rua e tentará eleger seu filho, Nicolás Maduro Guerra, para o cargo de deputado em Caracas.
O pleito é a primeira vez que os venezuelanos irão às urnas desde a disputa presidencial do ano passado, que o presidente Nicolás Maduro alegou ter vencido apesar de evidências que indicam vitória da oposição (leia mais abaixo).
No pleito deste domingo, serão eleitos:
Deputados estaduais;
285 deputados federais;
Todos os 24 governadores da Venezuela - incluindo, pela primeira vez, o de Essequibo, a região da Guiana que Caracas alega ser seu território.
Uma pesquisa nacional realizada entre 29 de abril e 4 de maio pela empresa de pesquisa Delphos, sediada na Venezuela, mostrou que apenas 15,9% dos eleitores expressaram alta probabilidade de votar no domingo.
Desses, 74,2% disseram que votariam nos candidatos do Partido Socialista Unido da Venezuela (PSUV) e seus aliados, enquanto 13,8% disseram que votariam em candidatos associados a dois líderes da oposição que ignoraram o apelo de Machado para boicotar as eleições.
Oposição pede boicote
No pleito de julho do ano passado, em que os venezuelanos foram às urnas em eleições para presidente, a oposição alegou vitória e continuou, por muitos meses, tentando mobilizar a comunidade internacional para intervir.
Desta vez, a tática é quase oposta: os líderes opositores nacionais e locais lideraram nas redes sociais uma campanha para que os eleitores não votem neste domingo, apoiando-se no argumento de que, desta vez, a votação apenas legitimaria uma ditadura mascarada de democracia.
“Perdemos a confiança no voto. Em 28 de julho (de 2024, nas eleições gerais), zombaram da gente”, disse à agência de notícias Associated Press Carmen Medina, vendedora de bijuterias na capital, Caracas. “Não pretendo votar.”
O sociólogo Roberto Briceño, diretor do grupo de pesquisa independente Laboratório de Ciências Sociais, disse à Associated Press que muitos venezuelanos não veem mais o voto como uma ferramenta para "gerar mudanças ou melhorar a grave situação do país".
Após a eleição de julho, disse ele, as pessoas vivem com uma "tristeza persistente em relação ao futuro", pois "sentem que fizeram a sua parte" para eleger alguém que não fosse Maduro.
Já o professor da Universidade de Tulane especialista em Venezuela David Smilde acha que a estratégia se voltará contra a oposição.
"O governo cooptou alguns partidos da oposição e há outros que estão cansados dessa estratégia que nunca funcionou", disse . "Então, o que teremos é um boicote parcial, o que significa que o governo vai chegar à vitória com facilidade e pode dizer: 'Tivemos eleições, a oposição não participou'. Justiça eleitoral retira QR code
Venezuela x Guiana: Entenda em 5 pontos disputa por Essequibo
Pesa a favor da campanha de abstenção da oposição o fato de que o Conselho Nacional Eleitoral -- a autoridade máxima eleitoral do país e leal ao partido governista -- supervisionará a eleição deste domingo.
No início deste mês, o Conselho Eleitoral decidiu remover o código QR que aparecia anteriormente nas cédulas de apuração impressas por todas as urnas eletrônicas, as chamadas atas eleitorais.
Essas atas foram usadas pela oposição para alegar vitória, e para obtê-las, os oposicionistas utilizaram justamente o código QR. À época, uma contagem das atas feita pela Associated Press identificou que Edmundo González, o candidato da oposição, obvete mais votos que Maduro.
A lider da oposição, María Corina Machado, também fez campanha pela abstenção pelas redes, mas segue escondida e fez campanha pelas redes sociais, para evitar a prisão ou o exílio. O risco é alto: na sexta-feira (23), outro oposicionista, Juan Pablo Guanica, foi preso acusado de planejar um atentado terrorista durante as eleições, segundo anunciou o Ministério do Interior na data.
