The more I explore Nostr—especially clients like Primal—the more limited it feels in some ways. I really prefer Damus overall, but I do like Primal’s Explore page.
I’ve tried Nostur, still getting used to it. Also heard some chatter about Yakihonne—curious to try it out.
I mostly use iOS and web.

"Completely Insane": Wired Posts DIY Video For Mangione's Ghost Gun
"Completely Insane": Wired Posts DIY Video For Mangione's Ghost Gun
YouTube's content rules apparently don't apply to corporate media darlings.
Case in point: Wired (Publisher: Condé Nast) recently published a video walking viewers through the exact process of building a copycat version of the untraceable 9mm "ghost gun" allegedly used in the UnitedHealth CEO shooting by Lugi Mangione.
Completely insane. Wired publishing a How To guide for attention starved lunatics to commit high-profile political murders. They're practically begging for a copycat. https://t.co/QGPLDw7gRc
— Lomez (@L0m3z) https://twitter.com/L0m3z/status/1925945728695755136?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
"So, armed with a shopping list and a credit card, we ordered everything we needed. A 3D printer, plastic filaments, and household products like epoxy were all just a few clicks away on sites like Lowe's or Amazon. And the more specialized components were available on sites that sell gun parts, just not the guns themselves," Wired's Andy Greenberg explained to viewers in the video.
https://cms.zerohedge.com/s3/files/inline-images/2025-05-24_08-32-40.png?itok=fiv1hEOr
Greenberg continued, "A few days later, every ingredient I needed to make Mangione's gun arrived in the mail for the grand total of $1,144.67 plus shipping. And that includes the price of the 3D printer. This is like Christmas Day. This looks like a slide, very much like an obvious gun part. Kind of crazy that you can just order this."
The video then spent five minutes showing viewers the printing and assembly processes. He outsourced the assembly of the pistol to YouTube Print Shoot Repeat.
https://cms.zerohedge.com/s3/files/inline-images/2025-05-24_08-33-11.png?itok=gGo-JIxf
After assembling the 3D-printed pistol, Greenberg took it to a shooting range and fired several magazines through it; the weapon performed as expected.
https://cms.zerohedge.com/s3/files/inline-images/2025-05-24_08-33-39.png?itok=u57cI36a
Meanwhile, YouTube explicitly prohibits content that provides instructions on manufacturing firearms, including ghost guns.
The policy even states:
"Don't post content on YouTube if the purpose is to do one or more of the following: Provide instructions on manufacturing any of the following: Firearms."
Meanwhile, independent firearm enthusiasts regularly get their videos pulled, age-restricted, or demonetized for far less. The double standard is obvious: if you're mainstream media, you get a pass — but if you're just a gun hobbyist or DIY engineer, the censorship hammer comes down hard.
Why is Wired effectively providing a how-to guide on building a copycat weapon, especially when it's being served up to Luigi Mangione's fanbase of unhinged Marxist leftists?

If you try to turn profits in the incubation stage, you inevitably strangle growth and quality suffers.
That's why grants have turned out to be such a problematic model: people usually view them as personal income and spend them on rent and food, rather than seeing them as investment income in a business they are building, that should be reinvested in making that business grow. That's why they slow or stop working, when the grants run out, or they jump to some other project, to collect grant monies for that. They haven't bothered building something that *generates income*, so their economic incentive to continue the effort evaporates.
And that's why they only write code, rather than build infrastructure and processes: you can just drop code and walk away, with no bills, no staff, no contracts, and no further expectations of services delivered.
Slam, bam, thank you ma'am, but make it FOSS.

I mean, if you think about overall resources, rather than merely Bitcoin income, we're one of the biggest projects. The services and hardware adds up to a small fortune, and we have some Bitcoin income, but there's no profit margin because we reinvest everything.
We haven't surpassed Primal, in budget size, tho.

Same as with architecture/design and devops because those three things consume the vast majority of development costs.
Coding is cheap, in comparison, but it's the only part you can't completely skip and still have software.
nostr:npub1s3ht77dq4zqnya8vjun5jp3p44pr794ru36d0ltxu65chljw8xjqd975wz is following what German logisticians call the "Maximalprinzip" (with the available resources, attempt to reach the maximum potential), but most Nostr projects use the Minimalprinzip (attempt to reach the lowest viable goal with the least possible resources).
So, they cut out architecture, automation, monitoring, testing, and maintenance, and vibe code some ish and then do a victory round and collect the Bitcoins from some useful idiots who haven't figured out that vibe coding has no monetary value because it isn't work.
We actually have one of the biggest budgets, despite hardly any income. Easily pushing over $100k in engineering hours, so far. Building something solid takes time and costs a lot of money. It just does.

New 'Doom: The Dark Ages' Already Adjusted to Add Even More Dangerous Demons
Doom: The Dark Ages just launched on May 15. But it's already received "difficulty" balance changes "that have made the demons of Hell even more dangerous than ever," writes Windows Central:
According to DOOM's official website Slayer's Club, these balance adjustments are focused on making the game harder, as players have been leaving feedback saying it felt too easy even on Nightmare Mode. As a result, enemies now hit harder, health and armor item pick-ups drop less often, and certain enemies punish you more severely for mistiming the parry mechanic.
It reached three million players in just five days, which was seven times faster than 2020's Doom: Eternal," reports Wccftech (though according to analytics firm Ampere Analysis (via The Game Business), more than two million of those three million launch players were playing on Xbox, while only 500K were playing on PS5.") "id Software proves it can still reinvent the wheel," according to one reviewer, "shaking up numerous aspects of gameplay, exchanging elaborate platforming for brutal on-the-ground action, as well as the ability to soar on a dragon's back or stomp around in a giant mech."
And the New York Times says the game "effectively reinvents the hellish shooter with a revamped movement system and deepened lore" in the medieval goth-themed game...
Double jumping and dashing are ditched and replaced with an emphasis on raw power and slow, strategic melee combat. Doom Slayer's arsenal features a brand-new tool, the powerful Shield Saw, which Id Software made a point to showcase across its "Stand and Fight" trailers and advertisements. Used for absorbing damage at the expense of speed, the saw also allows players to bash enemies from afar and close the gap on chasms too wide to jump across. While previous titles allowed players to quickly worm their way through bullet hell, The Dark Ages expects you to meet foes head on. "If you were an F-22 fighter jet in Doom Eternal, this time around we wanted you to feel like an Abrams tank," Hugo Martin, the game's creative director, has told journalists.
And Doom Slayer's beefy durability and unstoppable nature does make the gameplay a refreshing experience. The badassery is somehow ratcheted to new heights with the inclusion of a fully controllable mech, which has only a handful of attacks at its disposal, and actual dragons. Flight in a Doom game is entirely surprising and fluid, and the dragons feel relatively easy to maneuver through tight spots. They can also engage in combat more deliberately with the use of dodges and mounted cannons...
One of my favorite additions is the skullcrusher pulverizer. Equal parts heinous nutcracker and demonic woodchipper, the gun lodges skulls into a grinder and sends shards of bones flying at enemies. The animation is both goofy and satisfying.
Another special Times article notes that Doom's fans "resurrect the original game over and over again on progressively stranger pieces of hardware: a Mazda Miata, a NordicTrack treadmill, a French pharmacy sign."
But what many hard-core tech hobbyists want to know is whether you can play it on a pregnancy test. The answer: positively yes. And for the first time, even New York Times readers can play Doom within The Times's site [after creating a free account]...
None of this happened by accident, of course. Ports were not incidental to Doom's development. They were a core consideration. "Doom was developed in a really unique way that lent a high degree of portability to its code base," said John Romero, who programmed the game with John Carmack. (In our interview, he then reminisced about operating systems for the next 14 minutes.) Id had developed Wolfenstein 3D, the Nazi-killing predecessor to Doom, on PCs. To build Doom, Carmack and Romero used NeXT, the hardware and software company founded by Steve Jobs after his ouster from Apple in 1985. NeXT computers were powerful, selling for about $25,000 apiece in today's dollars. And any game designed on that system would require porting to the more humdrum PCs encountered by consumers at computer labs or office jobs.
This turned out to be advantageous because Carmack had a special aptitude for ports. All of Id's founders met as colleagues at Softdisk, which had hired Carmack because of his ability to spin off multiple versions of a single game. The group decided to strike out on its own after Carmack created a near-perfect replica of the first level of Super Mario Bros. 3 — Nintendo's best-selling platformer — on a PC. It was a wonder of software engineering that compensated for limited processing power with clever workarounds. "This is the thing that everyone has," Romero said of PCs. "The fact that we could figure out how to make it become a game console was world changing...."
Romero founded a series of game studios after leaving Id in 1996 and is working on a new first-person shooter, the genre he and Carmack practically invented. He has no illusions about how it may stack up. "I absolutely accept that Doom is the best game I'll ever make that has that kind of a reach," he said. "At some point you make the best thing." Thirty years on, people are still making it.
And in related news, PC Gamer reports...
As part of a new "FPS Fridays" series on Twitch, legendary shooter designer John Romero streamed New Blood's 2018 hit, Dusk, one of the first and most influential indie "boomer shooters" in the genre's recent revitalization. The short of it? Romero seems to have had a blast.

TBH, it's hard to hype it up when it's still a big construction zone. We're all waving our hands saying "you should see the architectural plans, they're great!" but all people see is a forest of timber and mounds of dirt.
Like you, we all have 9-5 jobs, so this is our slow-and-steady hobby project.

Yes and no. You can have more than one wallet used for SENDING zaps, because that is set up separately for each client you use. However, you can only have one wallet at a time for RECEIV8NG, because that is set up in your profile, so anyone can zap you, regardless of which client you are using.

A diplomacia 'fracassou'
