⚡️🚨 NEW - Someone claimed a Casascius 100 BTC coin, which had remained untouched since 2012.
He had originally bought it in 2012 for around $500.
Its value now exceeds $10 million, a return on investment of x20,000.

That's fair.
On the Lightning side, I honestly don’t mind the centralization trade-offs, as long as decentralized options remain available. Personally, I like using both. I manage my own Alby Hub, but I also use Aqua and WoS depending on the context. I just switch between them based on what I’m doing.
As for Cashu and Fedi, it’s still early days, but again, I don’t have an issue with the custody model, it’s all about trade-offs. These tools haven’t fully matured yet, so it’s tough to predict exactly how they’ll evolve. But the potential is incredible. Being able to encode sats as emojis, for example, is mind-blowing. It could completely reshape how video games, websites, and even advertising work.
That said, I don’t think the majority will ever want full self-custody, and I’m okay with that. Most products won’t be built around it, and that’s fine. What matters to me is that the option exists. As long as people have the ability to opt into self-custody and open systems, that’s what really counts.
That being said, I fully recognize that centralized products could eventually be leveraged by those in power to exert control. But that’s a risk we need to stay aware of, and be ready to push back against when the time comes.

I had the same concerns early on when I first got into Bitcoin. I was viewing it through the lens of gold, where the currency was centrally controlled, while the store of value seemed independent (though still largely held in banks).
But once I learned about Lightning and later, Fedimint and Cashu a lot of those concerns faded. These innovations make it too easy for people to use sats both as a store of value and a medium of exchange, without relying on centralized infrastructure.
That said, in the short term, I think you’re right, we’ll likely see a scenario where a hard-capped SoV leads to the rise of a CBDC as the MoE.
I think this will cause a split in the population. The MoE will become politicized, and I wouldn’t be surprised if CBDCs are marketed as the "right," "moral," or "unselfish" currency to use.

How I combat shipping wine in the Summer

- I only ship on Mondays, so wine doesn’t get stuck in hot warehouses over the weekend.
- I may delay shipments to hotter regions until the weather cools.
- I monitor temperatures across the country every week.
Most people don’t realize how fragile wine can be in the heat. Even short exposure to high temps can cook the wine and destroy its character. If you’ve ever opened a bottle and it tasted off or flat, that might’ve been the reason.
