De Duitse politie is op zoek naar een man die vannacht in Bielefeld op cafébezoekers heeft ingestoken. Vijf mensen raakten gewond, drie van hen ernstig.
Rond 04.00 uur stak de man met een steekwapen willekeurig in op bezoekers van bar Cutie, in het centrum van Bielefeld, in het noordwesten van Duitsland. Volgens omstanders had hij een speciale wandelstok bij zich met een mes eraan. Enkele cafégangers vielen de man vervolgens aan. Hij raakte gewond in zijn gezicht, maar hij kon ontkomen.
Bij het vluchten verloor de man een rugzak. Daarin vond de politie meerdere messen. Duitse media melden dat er ook een brandbare vloeistof en een verblijfsvergunning in de tas zaten.
De politie sluit niet uit dat de verdachte nog steeds gewapend is en raadt mensen aan hem niet te benaderen, maar meteen de politie te bellen als ze hem zien.
Tussen 23 en 27 jaar
In het café waren vooral aanhangers van de lokale voetbalclub Arminia Bielefeld aanwezig, die zaterdag kampioen werd in de derde divisie. De politie houdt de mogelijkheid open dat er nog meer mensen gewond zijn geraakt. De vijf gewonden die de politie meldt zijn naar ziekenhuizen gebracht. Ze zijn tussen 23 en 27 jaar.
De Duitse politie heeft een gespecialiseerd team voor moordzaken ingeschakeld dat de zaak onderzoekt. Verschillende Duitse media spreken van een aanslag, maar de politie zegt dat er momenteel geen bewijs is voor extremistische motieven, bijvoorbeeld door eerdere veroordelingen of uitspraken die op de plaats delict zijn gedaan.
