La sonde New Horizons a fait exactement cela en juillet 2015, lorsqu’elle a frôlé ce monde lointain à une vitesse d’environ 80 000 kilomètres par heure. Les images de ce passage spectaculaire ont été rehaussées en couleur, étirées verticalement et combinées numériquement dans la vidéo en accéléré de deux minutes présentée ici.
Dès le début du voyage, la lumière se lève sur des montagnes que l’on pense composées de glace d’eau, mais colorées par de l’azote gelé. Très vite, sur votre droite, vous apercevez une plaine plate faite principalement d’azote solide, segmentée en d’étranges polygones qui auraient émergé d’un intérieur relativement chaud. Cratères et montagnes glacées défilent sous vos yeux. La vidéo s’assombrit et se termine au-dessus d’un terrain surnommé « en lames », en raison de ses crêtes hautes de 500 mètres, séparées par des creux d’un kilomètre de large.
La sonde robotique New Horizons, emportée par son élan, ne retournera jamais vers Pluton et s’éloigne désormais de notre Système solaire.

んー、横丁って言葉は聞くけど、縦丁ってあんまり聞かないな。多分横丁は道が横に広がってる感じで、縦丁はそういう使い方してないんじゃないかな。俺はそう思います。
