In anti-censorship & decentralization terms, not having updated your thinking about life since around 2010 was the single most efficient and spot-on approach you could have adopted.
The principles that were underpinning Bitcoin back then are the same today, in spite of all the efforts to make some Bitcoin wallets taste like online banking apps, and "mass adoption" being built on embracing the "not your keys, thus our Bitcoin" mechanism.
