Steve decides the brokerage and cash don’t bring the peace of mind anymore so he converts most of the $400,000 into 0.02 BTC to achieve 0.3 Bitcoin.
If you’re reading this in 2025 as a multi-wholecoiner that figured out Bitcoin within 2 years when it was under $100,000 Steve may sound like a loser - but he isn’t.
In 2045 Bitcoin is still barely 10% of global assets and most people therefore have a far smaller allocation than Steve.
Steve was worth $1 million in 2025 and will have $12 million in 2055 having taken over a decade to understand Bitcoin. Steve never went bankrupt, spent time with his kids, and will leave them 10x more Bitcoin than his peers even if he spends $1k a day for the rest of his life.
This is how most will transition to Bitcoin.
However, you are not normal.
You’d take the $1m in 2025, convert it into 7 Bitcoin post tax, work like mad to get back to 10 BTC, then have $500 million in 2055.
If Steve had copied you he would have panicked, gambled, and lost it all because he didn’t understand what he had.
The mantra is “get off zero” for a reason.
If they have to be told to buy Bitcoin they are normal, and that is ok.

Ok it is nuanced I will grant you that, but I think our goal is that users can receive bitcoins without any more of a ceremony than having an address, and that money remains passively safe somehow, even if by employing a watchtower, as long as this watchtower can't steal (only fail).
This is the least people expect from payment systems.
However, operational/maintenance fees are acceptable, but losing all the funds wholesale on a such short timeout is just not going to fly.

Bitcoin can be made untracable if you follow best practices and know your stuff.
I'd you use the internet with an aoole device or windows or no privacy tools.
Sure use monero. Good for lazy privacy .
Not a good investment.
Or just swap yohe bitcoin to monero and back whenever you want to use some.
Its great that monero exists.
But most of us will never need it.

As long as they have a monopoly on power they pretty much can when they identify one of your trade powers. I applaud Bitcoiners for wanting to take away monopoly of violence from the state whilevstil granting access to tax it through its transparency. I am afraid Bitcoin alone is not enough to take on the state. It needs both Bitcoin and Monero to get the job done.
