I effectively agree.
However some important points:
1) Tether is “fully-backed” with reserves 1:1 (some of this is btc which is the only reason why it matters).
2) Bank dollars are 0% reserved, full fugaze
3) The government actually is the underlying issuer of bank dollars, the “independence” of the fed is not real.
This argument could also be extended to Tether and I would concede that, but Tether isn’t out issuing their own debt into infinity. They already are a proxy for the government’s debt (because much of their reserves are UST’s).
So, surveillance- and censorship-wise, no difference.
Issuance- and reserve ratio-wise, there are technical differences.

One has to have an explanation why something is spurious, and there is fundamentally strong reason to consider children as a factor that greatly changes one’s perspective. It doesn’t suggest either side is correct or incorrect, but it is an interesting point if that correlation exists, and posting a “spurious correlations” URL is not a substantive addition to the conversation. Everyone knows correlation and causation are not the same thing, and this is merely a musing about whether it *is* correlated or if it *could be* meaningful in the first place.
This is a truism that provides no connection to the actual discussion. It would be analogous to me saying, “just because it’s on the internet doesn’t make it true” in response to your note instead of explaining myself. If I’ve not shown why it “being on the internet” means anything regarding correlation stats, then it applies to everything equally and thus is useless to the conversation.

Absolutely, people definitely prefer using native apps on their phones, haha. For starters, I think just letting them use ncryptsec is good enough. The important thing is to help them start using it first, rather than expecting them to understand decentralization and encryption right away.

I think you're right about the Twitter clones not being the thing. Even Primal seems to be dropping strong hints that the future as per Primal's business plan lies in longform. (Which fair enough to them, I think longform on Nostr could be quite good if given enough love, which to date it has not been given.)
But otherwise there is a big difference between a lot of apps and a lot of apps that *work*, see meme.
