De provincie Gelderland heeft een vergunning verleend om de wolf te laten doodschieten die op 13 april een hardloopster zou hebben aangevallen.
"De ingreep is noodzakelijk om verdere risico's voor de openbare veiligheid weg te nemen", laat de provincie weten aan Omroep Gelderland. De Faunabescherming betwijfelt dat en stapt naar de rechter.
Het besluit van de provincie volgt op een positieve DNA-test. Die is afgenomen nadat de hardloopster op 13 april twee keer in haar been was gebeten tijdens een hardlooprondje door Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe. Uit dat onderzoek blijkt dat de vrouw inderdaad door een wolf is gebeten.
Afwijkend
De provincie baseert zich ook op deskundigenonderzoek, getuigenverklaringen en beeldmateriaal. "Het gedrag van het dier was dusdanig doelgericht en agressief dat het als ernstig en afwijkend moet worden beschouwd", stelt de provincie Gelderland nu. De wolf zocht actief mensen op en liet zich niet verjagen, is de conclusie.
Hetzelfde dier is volgens experts bij meer incidenten betrokken geweest. Deze feiten maken het volgens de Landelijke Aanpak Wolf (die de landelijke overheid en provincies samen hebben opgesteld) en het wolvenplan van de provincies een "probleemwolf", waarbij het noodzakelijk is om op te treden.
Ineffectief
Net als bij eerdere incidenten met de wolf zijn ook alternatieve maatregelen overwogen, zoals het afsluiten van Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe, een pijnprikkel en verjaging. Maar die zijn in dit geval beoordeeld als ineffectief of onuitvoerbaar, zegt de provincie.
Gelderland wil wolven al langer strenger kunnen aanpakken, maar heeft te maken met de internationaal beschermde status van het roofdier. Een eerdere vergunning om een wolf met een paintballgeweer af te schrikken, strandde bij de rechter. De provincie had niet goed duidelijk gemaakt welke incidenten zich precies voordeden en ook was onduidelijk of het steeds over dezelfde wolf ging.
Meer tijd
Tegen de vergunning die nu is verleend kan nog bezwaar worden ingediend, maar vanwege de "spoedeisendheid" kan dat slechts gedurende twee dagen, zegt de provincie. De Faunabescherming trekt zich niets aan van die korte termijn. De dierenrechtenorganisatie gaat de rechtbank vragen om een ordemaatregel om meer tijd te krijgen voor het bestuderen van de vergunning, zegt voorzitter Niko Koffeman.
Hij wil zo voorkomen dat de wolf al dit weekend zou kunnen worden gedood. "Een bezwaartermijn van twee dagen bestaat helemaal niet", aldus Koffeman. Volgens hem is de situatie niet acuut. "Als het een gevaarlijke wolf is, is het wel bijzonder dat het park de afgelopen drie weken gewoon open was. Dan hadden bezoekers toch gewaarschuwd moeten worden."

The speedrunning community prides themselves on their diversity and inclusivity, which if you think about is kind of weird. Speedrunning is just trying to complete a challenge runthrough as speedily as you can. Absolutely nothing in that definition disqualifies you from being bigoted.
I've been wondering for a while now, what would happen if, for example, someone incredibly transphobic got the Celeste world record. Would the community accept the record, even though they'd be praising someone whose beliefs are incompatible with the community's self-imposed norms?
Would they apply a rule to the category to disqualify the new world record holder? Would the old record holder now have to introduce themselves as the speedrun world record holder in the Celest any% no major trabsphobia category?

Even still, my mempool has very few of these thanks to other people's filters. It mostly has shorter ones, and it has almost 0 spam of the more harmful varieties. Plus if the mempool gets congested, my node boots these things out first.
