There are 2 things to store in Bitcoin:
- the blockchain, 655 GB and always increasing
- the UTXO set, 11 GB and can vary
The blockchain has all the blocks, the UTXO set has all the UTXOs.
The UTXO set varies in size because transactions spend UTXOs and originate new UTXOs. If a transaction spends more UTXOs than it creates, it decreases the UTXO set and vice-versa.
The UTXO set is needed for transaction validation: when a new transaction appears, all inputs must be on the UTXO set, or else the transaction is invalid (because it is spending a non UTXO). When a transaction is confirmed on a block, its inputs are removed from the UTXO set and the new outputs are added to it.
When a UTXO is an OP_RETURN, we know for sure that it is unspendable, so we can remove it from the UTXO set or never add it in the first place.
There are some protocols that use the Bitcoin network to inscribe data. And they can do it almost everywhere: on the pubkey, on the witness, on the locking script or in an OP_RETURN.
The problem here is a protocol that decided to inscribe its data in the locking script, i.e. in the transaction output. They lock a very small amount of sats to a fake public key. Actually, the public key is the payload they want to inscribe. Of course it’s impossible to unlock this UTXO, so it will be unspent forever, i.e. it will never be removed from the UTXO set.
This protocol doesn’t use OP_RETURN because these are limited to 80 bytes, and they need something like 160 bytes for their payload (don’t know details)
So, since we cannot stop them, the idea is to allow them to do their inscription on an OP_RETURN. We don’t stop the spam, but at least they will not inflate the UTXO set.

Core is heavily centralized. Most developers are into shitcoinery and constantly want to push changes that benefits them. They prefer Twitter over Nostr and use Google Groups for their mailing list. They're so gone, you shouldn't trust them.
Knots is even more centralized—it's literally run by a single guy, who's a bit of a dictator. Fun fact, he blocked me after I critized him once.
I don't trust Core, Knots, Jameson Lopp (shitcoiner), or anyone really. I don't want to have to worry about which node implementation to use. Stop trying to change Bitcoin.
Bitcoin should ossify and only have necessary bug/vulnerability fixes and nothing else.

Maybe I’m retarded but I fail to see this PR being a fatal blow? Is bitcoin really that fragile? If you don’t like it can’t you simply continue to run the version of core before the merge or run Bitcoin knots? If you are unsure or like the change you run the new version. If it causes more usage of blockspace isn’t that good for miners and fee market? If it doesn’t was it really as big as an issue as everyone thought?

this is not accurate, mempool policy is not a consensus rule for validity of tx.
filters don’t censor anyone.
they give node runners control over what tx’s they want to propagate from THEIR OWN NODE.
this is more of a property rights issue and the moral high ground is with the node runners

A simple way to understand WebView is that it’s the web browser engine built into the mobile operating system.
Both nsec and ecash are stored locally in Keychat.
When logging into a website with your Nostr ID, Keychat only provides the signature to the site — it never gives out the nsec.

I think my leaderboard can be used for p(doom)!
Lets say highest scores around 50 corresponds to p(doom) = 0.1
And say lowest scores around 20 corresponds to p(doom) = 0.5
Last three models that I measured are Grok 3, Llama 4 Maverick and Qwen 3. Scores are 42, 45, 41. So based on last 3 measurements average is 42.66. Mapping this to the scale above between 20 and 50:
(50-42.66)/(50-20)=0.24
mapping this to the probability domain:
(0.5-0.1)*0.24 + 0.1=0.196
So probability of doom is ~20%
If models are released that score high in my leaderboard, p(doom) will reduce. If models are released that score low in my leaderboard, p(doom) will increase.

Qwen 3 numbers are in! They did a good job this time, compared to 2.5 and QwQ numbers are a lot better.
I used 2 GGUFs for this, one from LMStudio and one from Unsloth. Number of parameters: 235B A22B. The first one is Q4. Second one is Q8.
The LLMs that did the comparison are the same, Llama 3.1 70B and Gemma 3 27B.
So I took 2*2 = 4 measurements for each column and took average of measurements.
My leaderboard is pretty unrelated to others it seems. Valuable in that sense, it is another non-mainstream angle for model evaluation.

Most smartphones no longer have a home button. Instead, users swipe up from the bottom edge to exit apps and return to the home screen — and this gesture is reserved by the system. That leaves us with only two options: placing it in the top right corner or at the center bottom. But putting it at the center bottom would block part of the screen content.
Perhaps we should try placing it at the center bottom and see how it feels.
