No kids yet but hope it makes it into my future. I believe AI/robotics ends up pushing back a strong ability for parents to raise their kids during the younger years. Big proponent of home school and the innovations that will continue in that space. I think higher education is dead in the water. I see no value in higher education towards any profession in 10 years.
Even if your kid is going into higher education next year, you're looking at 5 years before they graduate. We'll have AGI in 5 years and robotics should be pretty poppin. I don't see anything they'll be needing the degree for in 5 years. Unless they have a full ride they'd be better if you put every dime in BTC to have some resources in the new world.

You're completely right, I'm making an argument from principles. Good point. What I'm saying boils down to: if your business model cannot be supported by open protocols, then you _ought_ not pursue that model, because otherwise you contribute to the downfall of many other things you may cherish.
(The latter point there makes it slightly more tactical than purely principled, but I'm also making some hidden empirical claims there, which is not too fair).
We all have places we won't go, business-model-wise. "I wish people would buy my photographs!" (Well they would if they were pornographic, but you have a red line there) "I wish people would pay to visit my blog!" (Well they would if you had ads, but again red line) "I wish people would use my PWA!" (Well they would if you had native deep-linking)
I admit my red line being on [this side] of open protocols is extreme, and alienates most legacy / fiat business models and software development practices... But I say: Fix the protocols, fix the world. And it's a hill I'm willing to defend and die on, economically.

In the last week or so, I’ve seen two users on here called out for receiving Zaps but not Zapping back. Both posted here. These people are being labeled as “scammers” whom should be avoided, muted, and not supported with Sats.
This all makes me wonder, what is the appropriate #V4V zaps sent vs zaps received ratio?
1 sat in 1 sat out? 2 to 1? 1 to 3?
Should there be a ratio? What makes a good Nostr participant?
Some people are on here trying to earn sats, that might be the point? Should they be ostracized? Is it how upfront they are about what they’re doing that makes the difference?
Some are fortunate to receive generous zaps ⚡️? Should they be labeled scammer?
I’ve included my zaps in and out to save everyone the effort. I’ve received a very large amount of zaps in mostly from lots of signs planing and sticker slapping for nostr:nprofile1qqsrmqhg7mxxczt9gjln8ey8tgpl2cq2elm7c3n7z59pe3m395s5mjgnfsua2 but only have 42k out. Is that enough to not be a scammer?
Just curious everyone’s take. Not sure the social norms here have been clearly set.
