I think the question could be broadened to how do you deal with illegal stuff in general.
You don’t want to accidentally create Silkroad 2.0 and end up in jail.
Also, quality of the listings. Where the price tag makes since not just random number of sats and then the description says something else.

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has (had?) a machine called the MONIAC, a mechanical water based machine that simulated the economy.
It's easy to overlook things and misunderstand when you don't have a self-consistent complete theory, and there are a lot of levers and buckets 'n stuff.

If we want to move all Christian marriages back into the domain of the Church (which would be nice), then we need a formal system there to take over this sort of judgment and administration. We have to reclaim the paperwork stuff, basically, and Elders have to get more involved.
And we really need formal paperwork because we intermarry between congregations and move around, and paperwork travels.

Catholics would say that these marriages might "null", meaning that they never actually existed.
Like, if you kidnap someone and force them to marry, then that marriage is never created. You were just mimicking a marriage, like actors in a movie, but nothing actually happened because you didn't fulfill the prerequisites for conducting a valid sacrament.
Sort of the way a non-Christian can perform baptisms that don't actually work.

Yes, I was looking at the Episcopal and Angelican sites and they seem to accept state annulments and divorces and then require a clergical examination before remarriage.
Which seems to be the minimum that a church can really do. Any less and it defeats the purpose of requiring clergy to preside over the wedding.

Thank you for explaining things simply. I see what you mean and in the ways you outline seems like ecash offers some upgrades on top of current LN capabilities. Better than the zap locker solution especially if funds can be swept to a self-custodial LNURL as needed or maybe automated on a regular interval.
Really interesting watching all of these incremental improvements over time. When I got to Bitcoin in 2019 Lightning was unusable to me. It’s come a long way and I’m starting to understand ecash as a layer on top of Lightning (am I wrong there?)
Feels like if the LN / ecash development trajectory stays the same it’ll all be work seamlessly and be normie friendly soon. Wallet of Satoshi was already there… but they were custodial and they’re gone.

Offline/asynchronous payments are a big use case in my opinion. The ecash can serve as a sort of queue or holding place for your incoming payments, where it can then be redeemed for sats and swept to self custody when your Lightning wallet comes online. If enough users all use the same mint for transacting, it may have a centralizing effect but it also increases privacy because the mint operator doesn’t know which tokens belong to whom. Conversely if you only have one or two people using a mint then it seems it would be pretty easy to deduce who the tokens belong to 😂 The big thing is trusting the mint operator, or the federation members if using something like Mutiny’s ecash option.
