I always knew that I wanted to get involved somehow.
Following that conference, I started dragging amore ( nostr:nprofile1qqs22v8h7adk97rqwvrcl5xcyvp9pryjw0kggmgeweh0g9qhawpqv3qpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9e3h2unjv4h8gtnx095srkd0uv )around the globe attending conferences.
I had no agenda, just thought that attending/putting my energy towards these systems was the right move.
My only regret is not getting involved earlier.
So if you’re a closet maxi/lurker like I was for years, my unsolicited advice would be to get out there, find your tribe, and just show up. Something cool might come of it.

Maybe. IMO those Intel agencies are quite active on nostr. Lots of influence ops here. I've suspected you, for example. Decided probably not.
There are other possibilities. A dev on nostr could want the platform to respond to real threats, and this may be a way to accelerate development. Perhaps a rethink of how we use relays is in order. Perhaps we need to develop on the "web of trust" idea, or move to an authentication standard. Doesn't it seem like the spam attacks have grown incrementally in annoyingness? Like someone is trying to get a response, and might be a little exasperated by us not hitting the solution they want. Idk. I see patterns.

As far as social apps go, I prefer simplex over any nostr client. It's a bit more intimate. You can't escape some of the fakeness on social media and nostr has, in no way, changed that.

And it handles the problem of comprised organisational npubs: email your system admin or send him a service ticket, and name the new npub.
He can move the NIP-05 association to the new one, and you're back in business and the imposter has a profile with a big ❌ on it or has to remove the NIP-05. And your internal systems can immediately react on that, as the npub+NIP-05 combination works like an e-mail+password combination.
All of our company npubs have a GitCitadel.com domain. If one gets burnt, we can easily switch and announce the new location.
