Collectivism has nothing to do with that. Yes keeping the status quo makes life easier. And yes it's a generalization. Generalization is a very useful tool that gives the ability to predict potential danger in similar situations without having to experiment again and again. For some reasons in these days the basic idea of being safe and protect ourselves is seen as bad. It's not.
Life today is hell because we forgot the old rules and we are experiencing again all the pain that we could have avoided and will reinstate at the end the old rules.

Yeah thats an interesting thing thats barely talked about. China having 1 year of oil requirements stockpiled. Hormuz hits China hard for sure but 120-200 bucks per barrel cripples everyone else. Remember China changed strategy doctrine from grow to be biggest economy in the world to just be biggest, even if shrunk from current size.
