两个反驳思路：
传统思路是东德&朝鲜的基础不行，本身就落后于西德&韩国，比如苏占德国的西里西亚、萨克森和大柏林，在战前都是贫穷的工业区；而美占区的巴伐利亚和巴登，在战前都是富有的农业区。北朝鲜在日据时期，主要发展的是工业，所以现在十分贫穷；南朝鲜在日据时期发展的是农业，连电力都不能自给，所以现在更加发达。
实际上这次托词就是胡扯，1944年的《伦敦议定书》，盟军和苏联完全平分了德国，双方占领区的人口和经济不相上下。如果将目光聚焦于后来形成了东德的那部分领土的话，后来形成东德的领土甚至要比西德更加发达，西德的鲁尔-莱茵工业区是以矿业为主，在战前就已经不可避免的进入了衰落区间，而东德拥有的大柏林和萨克森地区是以新兴的制造业为主，也是第二次工业革命中发展最快的地区，整个东德产业工人的比例是35.7%，比西德还要高8.3%：
详细的内容可以看2020年德国和澳大利亚的学者对这一问题进行过研究，没有任何证据表明，战前的西德要比东德更加发达；但是在战后没有多长时间，战前最落后的南德强势崛起，成为了德国发展最快的地区，苏占区则迅速衰落，被南德的大农村甩在身后：

第二个借口是两德合并后，东德的发展还不如从前，这又可以分如下几个部分：
首先是谈东德账面价值极高的资产，被西德企业以低价收购，这种抛开负债谈资产的做法完全是在耍流氓，举个最简单的例子，恒大有1.85万亿的资产，万科有1.46万亿的资产，融创有1.18万亿的资产，一块钱不要白送，有人敢接吗？
忽略东德巨大的债务以及完全崩溃东德马克汇率来谈资产，这纯粹是耍流氓。
其次是谈东德某些地区的衰落，再拿出破败的街景作为证据：
实际上，这位答主发布的街景，在两德合并前长这个德行，连地面硬化都没有，下雨天直接变成了水泥路：
经过整治后的街景虽然不说有多么好，至少感觉是干净整洁的，地面也是做了硬化的，这还不是个例，东德时期除了柏林稍微整洁一些外，其他地方都是破破烂烂的，跟现在德国东部完全没法比，下面这个图也是原东德地区的街景对比：
为什么有一堆人尬吹两德合并，甚至吹嘘它为世界上最和平的两国统...
第三，谈两德间的发展差距：
这也是纯粹的扯淡，关于两德间的GDP差距，这件事早就有定论了，上世纪50年代和90年代的移民潮，永久性的摧毁了东德经济发展的可能，不同学历、职业和年龄的民众移民的意愿是不同的，青壮年和知识分子等劳动力较强的人，移民的概率是要远远大于老弱病残。
在冷战期间，西德政府做过调查，从东德移民西德的人中，受过大学教育的人占比为4.9%，受过大专教育的人占比为2.9%，受过高中/中专教育的人占为4.2%，而在西德当地居民中，这三项的比例分别为1.9%，1.2%，1.4%。可以这么说，东德移民的整体素质是高于西德本地居民的，更远远的高于留在东德的那些人：
移民的年龄分布，这一点在冷战期间没有精确的统计，根据原东德情报局长马库斯·沃尔的话说，这些人可能一半都不满25岁。冷战结束后，东德迎来了第二波移民潮，德国联邦统计局统计了移民的年龄情况，1991-2011年间的东德移民，约2/3是成年人（49.5万人），约1/3是青少年（24万人），老年人可以忽略不计。
劳动力强的人总是喜欢前往经济发达的地区，而老弱病残则喜欢留在原地，按照德国学者布鲁诺·格莱茨的话说就是“柏林墙就像一把筛子，把老弱病残和单身汉挡在了外面。”
政府不可能靠着养老金领取者，文盲、残疾人和各种关系户来发展经济，这是显而易见的事情，经过了大规模的移民后，德国东部的经济想要追上东部，这是不可能的事情，在这件事上，德国政府做的不错，东德五州的收入水平已经相当于西部80%：
最后一种则更为搞笑，用德国选择党的成功来证明东德发展的不如从前，完全忽略了德共的现代继承人左翼党，因为左翼党长期支持率只有10%左右，所以他们只能用苏左的近亲——极右民粹主义者来证明自己的成功：
