nostr:npub107jk7htfv243u0x5ynn43scq9wrxtaasmrwwa8lfu2ydwag6cx2quqncxg is it intended behavior in Habla.news to be unable to insert a link to a specific client? I am trying to paste a link to a listing on Shopstr, but Habla keeps replacing it with a Nostr URI `nostr:naddr1...` .
If I wanted to use a Nostr URI, I would put in a Nostr URI. In this case I want to put in a Shopstr URL instead, and Habla simply won't let me.

Yes. Your custom Alby lightning address is probably grandfathered in, just like mine. All new Alby accounts just get a randomly generated address and if you want to customize it, you need to pay. Seems to be a relatively recent change.

Indeed, very helpful for the current reply-bot spam. How effective that is will depend on you client. You might also find that muting a word on one client doesn't translate to other clients, too, depending on several factors.
I think the OP is just dealing with the npubs that just follow and unfollow people on repeat. Not much to do about those, and I honestly don't notice them, since the clients I generally use don't give me follower notifications.
If someone is complaining about it, I can almost guarantee they are using Primal.

With a side of “new crypto reporting rules” in the UK. Awesome, introduce a rule to require more HMRC staff to scoop up those final pennies, that’s exactly what the economy needs.
On the plus side, it gives you some hints on what they’re looking at, which would be of interest if I hadn’t played in safe and stayed away from that horribly volatile “BITcoin” thing, cheers FT

Yeah, but that's still not "getting rid of" or in any way preventing them from following you. It is still just hiding their follows from your view so you can get a more "accurate" number, which still isn't really accurate, since there could be quite legitimate follows whose kind 3s live on relays you aren't checking.

What do you mean by "connect"?
Alby Hub has a lot of versatility. You can give each Nostr account a different sub-wallet, if you want each of them to have separate balances. If you want them to both have access to your full balance in Alby Hub, then you can go to Connections > Add Connection and set up a new connection with access to the full balance. You can give it a separate budget, etc, and copy/paste the connection string into the Nostr app while logged into the account you want to have access to it.
Receiving is even easier. Just put the same lightning address in the profile for each Nostr account you want to have received to your Alby Hub. Assuming that your king21@getalby.com already does so, you would just use that one. If you want to have different lightning addresses for each Nostr account then you will need to create separate Alby accounts for each lightning address you want to have. Sadly, though, you now need to pay them an annual subscription for each Alby account you want to have a custom address for. Outside of doing that, you just have to use whatever random address they assign to each account.

That's the great part. You cant.
There is no way to stop anyone from following you. The best you can do is post where they can't see your notes, which reduces your reach, or read from relays that they can't post to, hiding their replies from you.
Here's my canned response for how to minimize spam:
If you are seeing a lot of spam in your replies, it is because you are reading from relays that spammers can write to for free. Spam can only happen if two things are true: 1. It's free and easy to create new identities. 2. New identities can write notes to relays without a cost.
We're not able to, nor do we want to, make it difficult to create a new identity on Nostr, so reducing spam by making new users jump through hoops that can only be enforced by a centralized entity is not an option.
That means we need to prevent it via option 2, by restricting new identities from writing notes to relays without a cost. If you are reading from relays that don't impose some cost to write to them, either social, computational, or monetary, then you are bound to see spam on a regular basis.
Instead of reading from free and public relays, you should consider trading them out for the following types of relays:
- Web-of-Trust (WoT): This relay type imposes a social cost in order to write to it. Namely, you have to be followed by the relay owner or one of the npubs the relay owner follows before you can write notes to the relay. These types of relays may also automatically aggregate notes from those within the web-of-trust, even if they were written to other relays.
- Proof-of-Work (PoW): This relay type is less common, and it imposes a computational cost to write to it. Only those who have dedicated computational energy to generating the required PoW can write to the relay. This cost is trivial for the honest user, who only posts up to a couple times a minute, but imposes heavy costs on spammers, who are trying to post hundreds or thousands of times per minute. Unfortunately, most Nostr clients don't support adding PoW to notes, so most relays don't use it as a spam mitigation measure.
- Paid Relays: As the name implies, this relay type imposes a monetary cost to write to it. It may also impose a cost to read from it, but that is less common. Since this cost is per npub, and spammers don't ever use just one npub since that's too trivial to mute and move on, this makes paid relays affordable for honest users, but too expensive for spammers.
Since the only two relay types above that are currently in wide use are web-of-trust and paid relays, here are a few suggestions for each.
Web-of-Trust:
- wot.utxo.one
- nostrelites.org
- wot.nostr.net
Paid:
- nostr.wine
- nostr.land
- jellyfish.land

(In current economics "real" has to be used multiple times as "once real terms" are already occupied by non really real terms. For example "real GDP growth" is nominal GDP - fake inflation. "Really real GDP" growth is GDP - real inflation)

Knots are an interlacement of the parts of one or more flexible bodies forming a lump or knob (as for fastening or tying together). Typically used with string, rope, or other cordage.
Now, if you are talking about Bitcoin Knots, it is an alternate Bitcoin client based off of Bitcoin Core, but with additional functionality and configuration options.

Interesting, JS/TS are getting C#-style `using` directives for more explicit memory management. This standard is available now in both Deno and V8 runtimes.
The ubiquity of JS/TS throughout the web now, even in server-side code, seems to be driving the demand for such features.

Well... nostr:nprofile1qqsrf5h4ya83jk8u6t9jgc76h6kalz3plp9vusjpm2ygqgalqhxgp9g84ctjf is out. Though it is now easy to set up a wallet to receive zaps with Zeus's new eCash feature, you still cannot easily connect your Zeus wallet to a Nostr client via Nostr Wallet Connect for sending zaps.
So it's looking like nostr:nprofile1qqstxwlea9ah3u6kjjszu6a7lrnhqkfh8eptp2z6v0e9558tlkkl2rg20d4vz might be the way to go, unless others have suggestions.
Criteria:
- No KYC needed.
- No channel management needed.
- Lightning address for receiving zaps.
- Nostr Wallet Connect for sending zaps.
- NIP-57 support for zap receipts.

Nevermind. Probably not going the Zeus route. Though they provide a lightning address for receiving zaps right away via eCash, without needing a Lightning channel, there is no way to connect the wallet to a Nostr client via NWC for sending zaps to others...
Looks like Minibits is the best option at this time.

Testing out the new eCash feature now. Was pretty easy to set up. As long as it works well for the next week or so, I'll probably go that route.

I am halfway through my tutorial series, "The Android Elite Setup," in which I walk the reader through setting up a source for Nostr apps and other open-source apps on Android (nostr:npub10r8xl2njyepcw2zwv3a6dyufj4e4ajx86hz6v4ehu4gnpupxxp7stjt2p8), Amber signer app, a Nostr client (nostr:npub142gywvjkq0dv6nupggyn2euhx4nduwc7yz5f24ah9rpmunr2s39se3xrj0), a zapping wallet, Pokey for notifications, and Citrine relay.
I was planning to use nostr:npub1h2qfjpnxau9k7ja9qkf50043xfpfy8j5v60xsqryef64y44puwnq28w8ch as the wallet for setting up zaps, but given multiple recent challenges with Coinos, I am considering switching it out for a different wallet.
Should I instead put nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 (with the new eCash support for those without a self-custody lightning channel just released in version 0.11.0), or perhaps nostr:npub1kvaln6tm0re4d99q9e4ma788wpvnw0jzkz595cljtfgwhldd75xsj9tkzv, or should I just continue as originally planned with Coinos, since it is still the most straightforward option? Other suggestions are welcome, as well.

I am partial to habla.news for publishing long-form articles and blogs. Bonus points if you also use npub.pro to have a great looking blog site with just your own content. You can even use your own domain. For instance, my Nostr Reviews site is 100% habla.news + npub.pro. https://www.nostr-reviews.com/
For videos... We don't really have a good video focused client, yet. There's zap.stream, but streaming is definitely the focus there.

I am a big fan of filtering my mempool of spam for the same reason I am a fan of tools for filtering my relay of spam and porn. I know I won't be able to keep either off of Nostr, but at least MY relay won't be contributing to it.
That being the case, I am not sure if it is possible to not connect to nodes that run core 1.29+, but I don't think it is necessary to do so. It is enough that my node is not contributing to the problem.

It was actually an attempt at a date of July 4th, 1776, but I didn't realize that anything prior to January 1st, 1970 would be a negative number, and most clients that display the note at all interpret it as September 17th, 2048 instead.
As for which client allowed me to post it, you can blame nostr:nprofile1qqszv6q4uryjzr06xfxxew34wwc5hmjfmfpqn229d72gfegsdn2q3fg729x4s's event publisher. Though, I could have done the same thing with NAK. There is no fear that the average user will start posting future-dated notes. 😂
IMO, clients should probably ignore notes with a timestamp more than a few minutes into the future, though.

I don't want to regret it. Initially, I got this account to write some stuff about different regrets. About a year ago I turned 40. During the summer, everything was fun and games, but when the summer was over, it kinda hit me. I prefer to post crap and explore ideas. A lot of "what-ifs". I'm turning too serious so I'll stop it here.

Aegis is the best option for logging into native iOS apps for the time being. That said, there isn't much support for it from iOS clients. The only one I know it works with is Nostur. nostr:npub18sufer6dgm9gzvt8gw37x08dk8gxr8u80rh8f4rjv4m4u73wlalsygnz5q posted the link to the TestFlight for Aegis already.
Outside of that, there is Nostash, which is a Nostr signer extension for Safari browser, currently also in TestFlight, and which nostr:npub18sufer6dgm9gzvt8gw37x08dk8gxr8u80rh8f4rjv4m4u73wlalsygnz5q provided the link for.
My particular favorite option, though, is nostr:npub1h0uj825jgcr9lzxyp37ehasuenq070707pj63je07n8mkcsg3u0qnsrwx8. This is a chat client for Nostr that comes with its own web browser built in. When using Nostr web clients within that browser, Keychat acts as a browser extension quite seamlessly.
