For this very reason some time ago I updated NIP-05 to clarify that it's not a verification:
Identification, not verification
The NIP-05 is not intended to verify a user, but only to identify them, for the purpose of facilitating the exchange of a contact or their search.
Exceptions are people who own (e.g., a company) or are connected (e.g., a project) to a well-known domain, who can exploit NIP-05 as an attestation of their relationship with it, and thus to the organization behind it, thereby gaining an element of trust

Isn't that what NWC is for? Just because it's RPC doesn't mean everything has to go through the signer interface. I'm also not sure what the use case for a bidirectional session would be. Maybe key migration? But even then, it seems like that would be better served by a method that explicitly does that.

Would be easy enough to do but I’m not convinced the pros outweigh the cons if it were to be applied to all of nostr.wine for example.
It’s something that could, perhaps, make more sense for the broadcasting feature of filter.nostr.wine. Gives you some period of time to undo your post before it is broadcasted out to relays where we have no control over if deletions are honored.
I do think clients are a more natural place for this to live but I appreciate the interoperability.

i personally get tired of the endless release announcements
i'm starting to unfollow people who post or repost them way too often
if their release tempo on brand new products is that fast, is there any chance that these are quality?
my first feeling is of inadequacy, but realistically, they can't possibly be stable or even hardly tested.
the pressure to ship is a real plague for quality

This is true. When people save the rules get changed to make saving unattractive. 401k etc. We incentivized letting someone else exercise the power your money represents and penalize you for removing that power from them.
