But let's get back to travelling without starships: I have been thinking about a campaign like that, which doesn't involve the players owning a ship outright.
I do think it needs a good raison though: why are a bunch of retired characters travelling like that?
The Dumarest novels actually had Earl Dumarest try to get back to Earth, and I think that would be an epic campaign in the 3I setting, but also kinda... meh.
But it might be nice to have a goal in mind and then work it out.
