Instead of having a place in each area, local call centre or close to different rural areas etc it is all one bit place and down central belt area...which is Glasgow/Edinburgh and around these parts...so instead of someone on my island, for instance, being able to phone direct for an ambulance there they have to go through a call place miles and miles away, and people there neither know nor care re distances etc. Same re taking away/reducing police staffing in villages and the like, all reduced or closed and shunted off to miles and miles away from local area.
So when a late neighbour of ours back home had a fall there was merry hell trying to get an ambo. He had one of those alarm things set up and his nephew, next door to him, and my uncle, two doors up, were the people it was linked to. When they went to house he had fallen, but kind of rolled a bit under sofa. They managed to get him from there but he had hurt his shoulder, he was six foot plus, only had one leg and diabetic, they are in their 70s and as well as difficulty of trying to raise a dead weight that size from floor they were worried he had damaged himself. So rang for ambo, took ages to get through and got some snot arse at end of line, explained what had happened and could not lift the man etc, answer was we don't send ambulance for sore shoulders! Fuck me! In the end they rang the local GP who started growling and he obviously has a direct local number and got ambo, straight down, man taken into hospital. That would have been avoided if, as used to happen, they had been able to go direct as we used to be able to do. No police on hand should something happen either, got to be either fetched from further away or not enough of them if more were needed even if they are there.
This is entirely and wholly an SNP fuck up, like many others they are responsible for, like screwing up our ferries.
