Core have given up trying to deny users the ability to configure datacarriersize - definitely stepping back from the ledge so that's progress.
What remains is a new default that will be 2,500x the size of what it is currently.
Remains ridiculous, sorry.
Core nodes should not - by default - cause users to relay more non-monetary activity around the network than necessary as it is obviously not in their interest.
40 bytes - the old default - was reasonable. This allowed side chains and hashes of however much data you wanted.
80 bytes was an unnecessary compromise.
Changing it to 100,000 bytes by default which is "all" the latest PR does is reckless.
The excuse that "at that size, the inscriptions hack is cheaper anyway so who cares" is not valid.
The solution is to implement the fully functional filter that makes life harder and more expensive for inscribers - not blow out OP RETURN limits which provides an easier, if more expensive method of doing what the inscribers are doing.
Fix the filters. Stop trying to play reverse whack-a-mole appeasing spammers constantly pushing for changes to Bitcoin.

There is no explicit work flow for this yet. The quickest solution would be that a user just creates a station and posts it as a comment. This is seen as an intent to take care and maintain the station and the wavefunc pubkey deletes the seeded one.
Another possibility would be that a pubkey with a valid nip 05 for the url entered for the station website shows up with a station event and claims it. The wavefunc app is watching for such events and then deletes the claimed station automatically.

This seems to be a weak argument, don't you think ?
As some have already said, this "drama" only put light on some interested purpose, like :
- bitcoin governance which is devs + miners + nodes and not only one of theses.
- bitcoin have been born after a bank creases , and not to host other thing than BTC transaction. The proof of that is that any other "coin" try to host smart contracts, and others things without success... with BTC should have to follow the same path, if a part of the community is against that ?
- personal attacks are really useless for the debate on any side it come from. I mean there is enough to care about, not need to include here interest conflict, personal hate or bad feeling.
History will not remember that mister X stole mister Y, or that mister Y insult mister X because the project is higher than your little person.
You should all take the example of nakamoto in your words and actions instead of trying to find a default in others.
History will only remember if the #bitcoin stay a stable value blockchain for a long lifetime, allowing people to exchange value and do payment transaction as it was created for.
I am not as extremist as some, and can agree some place for other stuff only, and ONLY if it doesn't have any impact on the initial purpose of BTC, or his usage for transactions and fees. If this can be watched and guaranty, why not.
As i am not extremist in the other way, hoping the blockchain will be clean by opening another place to put extra data and hoping everything will be ok without any "firewall". And i don't agree spam is not a real concern. And as i read, it is not because the door is already open to spam nowadays that we have to do nothing or open a window, hoping the door will not be used anymore.
I had an interesting exchange with someone here that have talk about a real problem reveal by this drama :

- Miner are many
- Node are many
- Devs are few.

Nowadays it is not possible anymore it should be a real serious concern.
Dev working on bitcoin are publicly identified, they can be under pressure of anyone, they can be blackmail... they can be paid a lot of money to do something for the good of the one who pay for it.
And here i am not only talking about core historical team or knots one but every dev that will work on the bitcoin software.
It is really time to over secure this point because it is a weakness.
And even if the devs are serious, some of their tools could be also under attack like git...
So yes, this drama have just put light on serious concern, and 99% really don't care about personal attacks, but more to know the potential problem and the possibles answers to it.
And no one can say stay quiet, don't worry and let the professional think and do things for you. It is just like fiat do. All of you guys are enough clever to be better than that.
